IwasborninSanLousOBispo,CaliforniaonDe-cember12,1936. Imetmyhusbandinhighschoolandweweremar-riedin1952.Tothisunion,4childrenwereborn;3boysand1girl.WemovedtoClayton,Idahoin1975,whereweownedandoperatedtheSaturdayMountainResort.Istilllivethere,butduetodepressedtimesweclosedtheresort.Istillrenttrailerspotsthere.Ihavebeenacookformostofmyworkingyears.Iretiredin1998. In2003,Ilostmyyoungestsonduetoatruckingac-cident.Ilosttheloveofmylifein2007,duetoillness. Ihave11grandchildrenand21great-grandchildren.Allareboysexceptfor2girls. MydaughterisaRebekah,asisherdaughter.OurlodgeisSilverLeaf#27inChallis.

IwasbornonAugust26,1941inSaltLakeCity,Utah.MyfamilymovedaroundtheUnitedStatesforthefirstfiveyearsofmylifeasmyfatherwaswiththecivilserviceaschiefmechanicduringWorldWar II.Wesettleddown inWells,Nev.MyDadopeneduphisowngarage.AsIgrewupIhelpedhiminthegarage. I married my first wife in 1962. Shortly after wemovedtoBoise.In1968ourdaughterMariannewasborn.ThroughtheyearsIworked6yearsforarefusecompanyandanother6yearswithTriangleDairyasa retail routesalesman.IthendrovetruckallovertheUnitedStates.IcameoffoftheroadinDec.of1990.Ithenwenttoworkforalocalcompanycuttingpipeandirrigationparts.MywifeEmilypassedaway inDec.1985. InSept.of1986ImarriedmysoulmateJoDee.ShebroughttwodaughtersSara14yearsoldandBecky5yearsold intoour family. Our daughter Becky died at the age of 7 onJune15th1988,afterbeingstruckwhileridingherbicycleonBoiseAvenueinBoise.Thiswasaverydifficulttimeforourfamily.InNovemberof1989IjoinedtheOddFellowsAdalodge#3andstarted togo through thechairs in1993. IbecameNobleGrandin1994andintheyearssinceIhavebeenNobleGrandfivemoretimesaswellasbeingNobleGrandatIdahoCity,SilverCityandNampa#40.I’vereallyenjoyedbeingintheOddFellows,beingwithfriendsandhelpingotherswiththeprinciplesofOddFellows. I then joinedencampmentand in2003becameGrandPatriarch.In1996IjoinedthecantoninBoiseandwentthroughtheranks.IamcurrentlyPresidentoftheMilitaryCouncil,GrandSeniorWardenintheGrandEncampment.IlookforwardtothisyearasyourGrandMaster.TomakingnewfriendsandseeingoldfriendsasImakemyvisitsthroughoutourgreatstateofIdahoInF.L.&T.GeneS.Pola,GrandMaster

Condition Report of the Historical LodgesBoth Pioneer #1 and Owyhee #2
Pioneer#1has47membersandanaverageof15membersattendedthethreemeetingswehavehadthisyear.TheforthmeetingwillbenextSunday(October23,2010)withapotluckaftermeetings.Thisyearwehavetakeninthreenewmembersandtwoweregiventheinitiatorydegree. RoseRebekah#18,beingasthisLodgemeetsintheHistoricalLodgeHallasdoesPioneer#1,isconsideredahistoricallodge.Ithas40membersandanaverageof11membersattendedthethreemeetingswehavehadthisyear.ThisyearwetookintwonewmemberswithonebeinggiventheRebekahDegree. Owyhee#2has43membersandanaverageof9membersattendedthetwomeetingswehadthisyear.Wehaveapotluckatnoonwithameetingat1:00p.m.Thisyearwebroughtinonenewmember.
Historical Lodge Halls
Alotofworkhasbeenaccomplishedonbothbuildings.AtPioneerinthelastthreeyears,wehaverebuiltthefrontporch,theroofoverthestairs,fixedthewindows,paintedthefrontofthebuilding,putpreservativeontherestofbuilding,replacedbrokenbatsandboards,andputnewbatandboardsonthekitchenendofthebuilding.AllthisworkhasbeenaccomplishedwithgrantsanddonationsfromOddFellowsandRebekahs.ThisyeartheGrandLodgegaveus$5,000.00forworkonthebuilding.TheOddFellowshadtoputupaboutonethirdofthecost,therestwascoveredbygrants.ThankyouallforthehelpthatyouhavegiventoPioneer. Owyhee#2,asmostofyouknowtheLodgeHallwassoldtotheHomeownersAssociationin2001.Thelodgereceived$10,000forthebuilding.AmotionwasthenmadebyBenDrinkwinethattheinterestfromthisfundbeusedfortheHistoricalLodgesofIdaho.SincethenOwyheehasgiven$3,375toPioneerformaintenanceontheirbuilding.The$10,000isstillintactandquietlydrawinginterest.Thehavedonemajorrepairstothebuildingalready.Theyhavejackeditupandputafoundationunderit.Theyputoninsiderestroominitthatwecanuse.Italsohasanapartmentwhichoverthesummerisnotused.TheyareplanningtodothefrontofthebuildinglikewehavealreadydoneatPio-neer.AllthisworkhasbeendoneatnoexpensetotheOddFellows.WehavefreeuseofthebuildingaslongasthereisaLodgeinSilverCity.
Future
ThereisstillalotofworktobedoneatPioneer#1.OneofthethingsthatourHistoricalArchitect,FredWalters,pointedoutwasthatthefoundationwasliterallycrumbling.Thisisgoingtobeamajorundertakingtoreplace. In2010theOddFellowswillbecelebratingour150yearinIdaho.Atthe100celebrationin1964,theSovereignGrandMasterandtheGovernorofIdaho,alongwithmanydignitariesformedamotorcadeatthestatecapitalanddrovetoPioneer#1.AtthetimeRose#18putonagreatfeast.Manyspeechesweregivenandfunashadbyall.2010isaboutthreeyearsawaysoweneedtostartthinkingaboutwhatwearegoingtodotocelebrate.

4 Idaho sisters traveled together to the RebekahAssembly this year and say they had a fabulous timetogether&w/all theRebekahsistersthattheyhavenotseeninawhile. Carolynn Jones & Margret Abbott both served asFlag Bearers, Lydia Chane was the Warden and alsowasinstalledintohernewpositionasVicePresidentwithCarolyn,hersisterbeingherescort.Whatagreatnightthatwassharedbyall.ShandraChandlerservedat theInside Guardian& says she learned A LOTabout the“DOOR”.Thiswasthe1styearthatMargretAbbotthadattendedassemblyandsaysshewillbesuretobecomingback. TheAmosettebanquetwasalsoahighlightof theAssembly.All4girlswentanddressedupintheregreatcostumes.Margret,LydiaandCarolynweregreatlookingwitchesasShandradressed inaspiderghostcostume.They had a great time and say they are really lookingforwardtonextyear.InFL&TRoyalGemRebekahLodge#13
Silver Leaf #27 Rebekah News SilverLeaf#27hasbeenverybusythisyear.ThefirstmeetinginSeptemberisalwaysalongoneasthereisalotofbusinesstoattendto.Weonlyhad10membersin attendance. Some were sick and some were out oftown. We sure miss them when they are absent. Wesendourthoughtsandprayerstothemall.Ourwonderfulorganizationisslowlydwindling.Welostthreeverygoodmembers over the summer. We draped our Charter inMemoryofDarleneCoatesandMarieSullivan.Wehaddraped our Charter in Memory of Bill Millick before werecessed in June. We have done and will do RebekahFuneralServicesonalloftheabovemembers.Wealsodidandwilldodinners for theabove.OurnewLodgeDeputy was elected, this being Georgia Skeen. Sheis always willing to pitch in when we need something.It was time to elect representatives to go to Assembly.ThesepeoplerepresentourLodgeattheStateLevel.#1willbeDorotheaJohnson,#2willbeShannonMunsonMcGhee.OurSecondRepwillbeunabletoattenddueto a family death so Linda Campbell was appointed assecondRep.OurLodgehasthehonorofhavingtheStatepresidentthisyear.SheisJoAnnJohnson.Thisisaverylarge undertaking and we commend her in doing this.Wearetryingtohelpherallwecanandwewishherallthebest.Wehave3newmemberswehopetoinitiateinNovember.TheyareSheilaFunk,BarbaraFoxandJamesSavaria.If anyone is interested in joining our GREATorganization please contact one of our members.
