EIFFEL TOWERParis, FRANCE

4

The first level of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is equipped with 64 anti-skid glass tiles made from LITE-FLOOR XTRA GRIP. Visitors have the impression of walking in a void at a height of 57 meters. The 128 sq. m. of glass was manufactured at the Eckelt Glas plant (Glassolutions Austria) to the specifications developed by Glassolutions France. This unprecedented improvement has added considerable appeal to the Tower’s first floor.

LOUIS VUITTON FOUNDATIONParis, FRANCE

5

Saint-Gobain glass is used on the Louis Vuitton Foundation’s building dedicated to contemporary art that is located on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne (Paris).

For the façades, 3,500 sq. m. of glass from Saint-Gobain Glass was processed by Glassolutions CZ in Brno (Czech Republic). In all, more than 2,000 glass panels were delivered, of which 1,600 varied in shape: a real exploit in terms of production and logistics. In addition, 1,100 sq. m. of Vetrotech Saint-Gobain fire-protection glass contributes to the building’s safety.

TOWER BRIDGELondon, UNITED KINGDOM

6

The Tower Bridge walkway now boasts a new 11-meter long glazed floor allowing London pedestrians to see the Thames from 42 meters above the river. Designed by Glassolutions façade Design & Supply and installed by Glassolutions Contracting (United Kingdom), this structure was assembled in the Vetrotech KINON plant in Germany.

Each of the floor’s 84-mm thick glass panels has seven layers ensuring exceptional strength and durability: low-E laminated SGG PLANITHERM ULTRA N II, extra-clear SGG DIAMANT and custom-made slip-resistant LITEFLOOR. This floor is so strong it would support the weight of six elephants.

LLOYDS BUILDINGLondon, UNITED KINGDOM

7

In 2012, Glassolutions XXLGLASS refurbished the Lloyds Insurance building in London, the façade glass of which was already originally supplied by Saint-Gobain Glass.

Saint-Gobain reused and recycled the original glass that had been specially designed for this project. The textured glass supplied at the time by Saint-Gobain was removed from the building and shipped to Glassolutions in the Netherlands. It was then combined with SGG COOL-LITE ST 120 solar control glass to create custom CLIMAPLUS sealed double-glazing, before being shipped back to London where it was remounted on the façade. Any glass that could not be reused was recycled by Saint-Gobain Glass UK.

TERMINAL 2 DUBLIN AIRPORTIRELAND

8

More than 16,000 sq. m. of Saint-Gobain Glass and Glassolutions glass is used on Dublin’s new ultramodern international airport terminal.

Glassolutions supplied the CLIMAPLUS double-glazing for the façades made of SGG COOL-LITE SKN solar control and SGG STADIP SILENCE acoustic glass that allows maximum daylight to filter through while at the same time ensuring the building’s thermal and sound insulation.

CLIMAPLUS CONTOUR curved double-glazing is used on the elegant curves of the footbridge and interior staircase; and STADIP COLOR laminated safety glass encases the spectacular elevator.

ONE WORLD TRADE CENTERNew York City, USA

About 242 kilometers of THERMALBOND® structural glazing spacer tape was used in the One World Trade Center, the central tower of the complex built in New York City to replace the towers destroyed on September 11, 2001.

Made by Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, THERMALBOND is a foam adhesive tape designed to maintain the gap between the glazing and the metal structure of a façade.

Globally recognized for its quality and reliability, it has an open-cell foam structure that allows air and moisture to reach the silicone, permitting optimum curing.

The tower has received the LEED Gold green certification.
