Adi Ignatius became editor in chief of Harvard Business Review in January 2009 and has led a transformation of the brand. HBR now enjoys its highest-ever circulation and has seen its newsstand sales increase for four straight years. Previously, Ignatius was No. 2 editor at TIME, where he oversaw the week-to-week editing and was responsible for many of TIME’s showcase editions, including Person of the Year and the TIME 100. Ignatius was co-editor of Prisoner of the State: The Secret Journal of Premier Zhao Ziyang. The book, a New York Times bestseller, is based on the secretly recorded audiotapes of China’s former premier. Ignatius also was editor of President Obama: The Path to the White House. Ignatius worked overseas as a journalist for nearly 20 years. He was Editor of TIME Asia, based in Hong Kong. Before that, he spent many years at the Wall Street Journal, serving as the newspaper’s Bureau Chief in Beijing and then Moscow. Ignatius won a Zuckerman Fellowship at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in 1990. He received a BA in History in 1981 from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and an honorary doctorate from the University of Maryland’s college in Okinawa.

Previously, Ignatius was No. 2 editor at TIME, where he oversaw the week-to-week editing and was responsible for many of TIME’s showcase editions, including Person of the Year and the TIME 100.
