ABOUT MAHARASHTRA STATE CENTRE:
OBJECTIVES:
The Institution of Engineers (India) is a pioneer body of Professional Engineers encompassing 15 Engineering disciplines, with an overall membership of 7.6 Lakhs.. Established in 1920, and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935, with its headquarters in Kolkata. It functions amongst professional engineering fraternity through 104 centres across the Country and 5 centres Overseas.
The Maharashtra State Centre, of the Institution was founded in September1921 (as Bombay Association) just a few months after the formal inauguration of the Institution on 23rd February 1921. In 1943, the Bombay Engineering Congress was amalgamated with the then Bombay Centre. In 1976 with the realignment of the Institutions Centres on the basis of the state boundaries, jurisdiction of Bombay Centre was extended to encompass the whole of Maharashtra State. The Centre's name was changed from Bombay Centre to Maharashtra State Centre.
Currently, Maharashtra State has 10 Local Centres viz. Ahmednagar, Amravati, Aurangabad, Belapur, Chandrapur, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune and Solapur.
IEI, Maharashtra State Centre has the highest membership strength. The total Corporate and Non Corporate membership strength of the Centre as on 31.03.2013 is 1,01,822.
1) Dissemination and updating of engineering and
technological knowledge and diffusion among
its members, the information on all matters
affecting engineering, through Technical
Activities, such as seminars, symposia,
continuing education courses, workshops,
paper meetings, conventions, conferences, etc
at both national and international levels;
2) Providing access to R & D activities and
engineering practices through engineering and
technological disciplines;
3) Focusing on new developments, techniques,
products, processes and other issues of topical
interest;
4) Inculcating and promoting amongst engineers
and technologists a growing commitment to the
social objectives of the profession;
5) Fostering national and international
cooperation in engineering and technology;
6) Recording appreciation of and extending
recognition to individual achievements and
activities in advancing the art and science of
engineering and technology;
Similar events were successfully organized in the past th th th th
on 25 and 26 February, 2006 and on 13 & 14 March
2007, in which the final year students of engineering
and polytechnic colleges of Mumbai and Maharashtra
participated.
The overwhelming response from the college students
and appreciation by the visitors have given us
encouragement to organize such exhibitions.
The applications in the prescribed format will be
received from students which will be forwarded by their
principal or concerned HOD and will be screened by a
committee for exhibiting projects in the form of
working models with charts and photos. The deserving
students will be awarded including special prize after
evaluating the projects by a team of Professionals,
College Principals and Entrepreneurs.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION :
The exhibition covers civil, mechanical, production,
electrical, metallurgy. Chemical & allied like textile,
plastics, foods, pharma, rubber, oils etc, information
technology, b io technology, e lec t ronics &
telecommunication, agriculture engineering projects
related also to energy saving, pollution control ,safety
and energy conservation ,green technology ,water
harvesting etc.
A souvenir highlighting the projects of participation,
sponsors etc. will be published for distribution which
will enable to give more exposure to the exhibited
projects and thus giving encouragement for facilitating
the scientific & economic development of engineering
in India.
