The pork barrel scam is as foul asthe smell of all piggeries in the countrycombined. Napoles, congressmen andgovernment ofcials allegedly divide

among themselves the pork barrel calledPriority Development Assistance Fundamounting from P70 million to P200million annually. The whistleblowersled by Benhur and Arthur Luy, Napolesrelatives and former employees at herJLN Corp., explained that agriculturaland livelihood assistance projects to

benet poor farmers and families in thecountryside are invented and endorsed bycongressmen to concerned governmentagencies for implementation by theirchoice NGOs, which are controlled byNapoles. The Department of Budgetand Management then releases thelawmakers PDAF money for the specicghost project to the NGO. Once depositedto the NGOs bank account, Napoles splitsthe money with the legislator, the localmayor or governor, and other facilitators. No projects are actually implemented.

The National Bureau of Investigationand other government agencies continueto investigate the extent of the scam,

which could have divertedP10 billion in tax money frbeneciaries.

    Celebrities join anti-pork barrel protest

Actors and actresses are among the biggesttaxpayers victimized by the pork barrel scam. That explains the presence of VJ-model GeorginaWilson and TV host Raymond Gutierrez (above).

Tado Jimenez, with his bikerfriends, is against the pork barrel.

Rallies will not be complete without entertainment. Organizers of theMillion People March know this too well so singing was on the anti-pork barrel protest menu at the Rizal Park on Aug. 26.

Comedian-singer Jograd dela Torre warmed up the crowd in themorning with his spoof song Kawatan sang to the tune of Britishsinger Jessie Js chart-topping Price Tag. More than its funny lyrics,Jograds song ttingly serves as the rallys anthem. Just check thelyrics on the right side.

Actors and actresses turned out at the rally. As among the heavilytaxed taxpayers in the country (because of their fat paychecks), theyfelt victimized and related well with other cheated taxpayers.

Apo Hiking Societys Jimmy Paredes was seen with Noli Trinidad, LeoMartinez and Jun Urbano.

Robin Padilla and wife Mariel Rodriguez, TV host Bianca Gonzales,Rommel Padilla, Willie Revillame, Gloria Diaz, Isabelle Daza, GeorginaWilson, Raymond Guitierrez, Martine Cajucom, Irma Adlawan, Pen

Medina, Arnel Ignacio, Mylene Dizon and director Jose Javier Reyeswere there.Comedian Tado Jimenez was with his biker friends. When interviewed

by a TV reporter, he thanked Janet Napoles saying, Kung hindi dahilsa yo, wala kami dito.

Actress and satirist Juana Change was in a Miss Piggy costume.Korina Sanchez was there to report the event for the evening news

program TV Patrol.Ironically, celebrities-turned-politicians are being linked to the pork

barrel scam. Sens. Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada are reportedly incahoots with Napoles, the alleged architect of the scam, for allocatingportions of their pork barrel to ghost projects. The senators denied theaccusations.
