The Light Side Of The Force § Internet will expand at the edge with more and more ”things” inter-connected and
accessible online. This will lead to a growing dependency on the Internet reliability and home networks security [smartness of the network will further move to the edge and be further decentralized.]
§ The magnitude of data that we will be able to collect throughout the network will make Artificial Intelligence powerful, affordable and available to all to solve a some of our day to day challenges (from successfully growing and keeping flowers alive in our apartments to curing/preventing diseases).
§ Mobile access will continue to grow and mature to become the central piece of our online lives.
§ As Privacy becomes a serious issue, new services will emerge to protect our data online in virtual “safes” that we have “full control” of.
§ The issue of accurate and Global Identification System of our presence online will be addressed (evolution of the DNS or something else).
The Dark side of the Force § Security and Safety threats online will grow tremendously and become
so complex to the point that they get out of all control. “A big cyberattack impact our food chain and kills millions of people!!!!”
§ The bottom-up Multistakeholder self regulation concept will implode, conceding power back to some some sort of government led regulation.
§ The ”Fragmentation” of the internet around cultural, language, legal and financial barriers will become a fact.
§ Only two universal business monopolies will rule the world. § Chaos from the lack of a secured, non-repudiable globally unique
identification system of online transactions/communications will make the Internet unusable.
