Description:
Clic Clac Baby, born 1932 in the Côte d'Ivoire, is a studio and documentary photographer since 1954. Like Malick Sidibe and Seydou Keïta in Mali he was not aware of the historical or artistic dimension of his daily work. A lot of the early negatives are destroyed or lost. In 2012 german journalist and artist's agent Stefan Meisel was pointed to Clic Clac Baby by Ivorian designer Jean Servain Somian. Since then a number of 5000 negatives had been sighted and archived. A selection of 150 motifs will be published step-by-step in limited, handmade and signed prints. A first solo exhibition will be held in July 2012 in Goethe-Institut Côte d'Ivoire.
