Hot Hot Hot. Summer just started and here in Orlando the temperature all week is for 97 everyday. With that said, I hope everyone is well and following the prescribed discipline for keeping safe. I know it's getting boring but think of the alternative.
One item to report. An original member of Special Forces, Edward Valenzuela, passed away on May 30th in Orlando, FL He was one of 25 that trained in Bad Tolz. He was a SFA member but had not been active for a long time. Rest in peace, DOL.
I hope everyone is looking forward, as I am, to our next meeting. It's been a while since we have gotten together. It's going to be fabulous to see everyone and you don't want to miss it.

Cliff will remain in the position for the next few months as he brings Mike up to speed. Cliff has done an amazing job as the SFA Executive Director for the past 10+ years and we know his experience and dedication will continue to serve the SFA for years to come. The new National Board of Officers will appoint a backfill for the Special Projects Manager position at a date TBD.

HEALTH & WELFARE
1. AL & TONI BOMAN - Al reports that some lab work has indicated he may have Blood Cancer. He has started treatment for PRE Blood Cancer. If this treatment works for him the doctors said he would not have to take Chemo. Hang in there Al, you will beat this. Toni is doing the best she can and tries to exercise some.
2. STEVE & LYNDA EPKINS - Steve (Chapter ROTC Awards Coordinator) reports that they are both doing well. Lynda has received treatment (for some time) for Bone Cancer. She takes 2 morphine tablets daily, a chemo pill 21 days each month and every 2 months goes to the Florida Cancer Specialist for 6 hours of treatment (for chemo and bone strengthening). She is very mobile, working 2-3 days a week. Way to go Lynda, we all wish you continued success. Steve has a full plate ahead of him. On 8 July he is scheduled for hernia surgery then a colonoscopy and a sleep study. Of course during this period he will continue to have skin cancers removed. We hope you don't run out of skin Steve. We wish you both a continued recovery.
3. JOHN & ANNA FRYER - John says that he and Anna are both doing well. They are patiently awaitingclearance to make their annual trip back to Germany. Due to the Pandemic, Germany (at this time) is not allowing ANYONE entry. We hope this lets up and you can make your trip soon.
MEMORIAL LANE
Tom and Ann Tomlin's daughter, Doris, 61, passed away on 19 June from a very fast moving, aggressive type of Lung Cancer which quickly took over many of her upper organs and shut everything down. Doris was a heavy smoker and this contributed directly to this cancer. IF YOU SMOKE, PLEASE STOP. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Englewood, FL area at a later date.
