This beautiful tiny is located off the north coast of Sumbawa Island, and has an area of 349 km2. Moyo Island is located in Sumbawa Regency within the Nusa Tenggara province, just north of Sumbawa.

The island is mostly uninhabited and unknown to the majority of tourists; the population is about 1000 inhabitants distributed in 6 villages, all of them living on fishing and farming. In 1986 a National park was established in order to conserve and protect the extraordinary vegetation, its uniqueness and many animal species (birds, bats, monkeys, wild pigs, and deer) and a Marine Reserve with the goal of preserving the

unspoiled reefs surrounding the island. A visit to Moyo Island takes the traveller on a discovery adventure of immense marine and land life and provides an escape from reality in a world where man and nature blend together offering unforgettable emotions.

There are also a few waterfalls, the biggest one is about 2 hours from Labuan Aji village, the others are in easy reach, within 15 minutes walking distance, in the forest where you will find a multitude


of colorful butterflies. Most of the east and west coasts and the entire south coast of Moyo Island have been declared Marine Park. Pristine coral reefs and all their inhabitants are now protected from fishing and pollution. Divers and snorkelers have the chance to visit a truly untouched paradise; in fact, the Marine Park was established long before tourism reached this area.

So make sure Moyo island is on your list to visit in Indonesia.

Eka Suendra Putra ; growing up in a family of travelers, he is now dreaming of traveling every inch of Indonesia.

Tanjung Tinggi is one of the tourist sights in Belitung Island near Sumatra. It is located 31 km from the

town of Tanjung Pandan. Tanjung Tinggi is a high promontory beaches flanked by two peninsulas, there are headlands of Pendam and Kelayang.

The name Tanjung Tinggi can be loosely translated as promontory which means high peninsula. This beach has an area of 80 acres and there are hundreds of large granite spread in both of the peninsula and also white sandy beach.The size of granite ranging from a few cubic meters to hundreds of cubic meters.

Tanjung Tinggi also known to the local as the Bilik Harbour, In the past this place was a fishing port for the nearby villages Keciput or Tanjung Tinggi.Now it

has become one of rising tourist sight in Belitung Island.

The white sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing and the crystal clear water is just too hard to resist, the only thing is to look out is the jellyfish. In addition, after enjoying the beach it is time to fill those empty belly with various mouthwatering seafoods.

Tanjung tinggi beach can be a perfect getaway from all the hustle and bustle and enjoy the unforgettable experience.

Galungan and Kuningan is one of the biggest ceremony in Bali; Galungan is also a local

Balinese public holiday that lasts for 3 days. In 2014 Galungan will be celebrated on 17th of December. Public holidays will last from 16th to 18th of December. Followed with Kuningan day on 26th of December to 28th of December, which is part of the whole celebration. Galungan happens every 210 days and its date is defined based on local Balinese calendar known as the Pawukon calendar.

The religious meaning of Galungan is the celebration of the victory between good over evil, Dharma against Adharma. It’s a big family day for the Balinese, it’s the time when

families gathers together. People who work away from their home villages always try to be back to celebrate Galungan. For visitors, Galungan and Kuningan is one of the most beautiful holidays in Bali. Streets get enormously rich with decorations and villagers wear beautiful ceremonial clothes as they gather on the streets. The main street decoration for Galungan is Penjor – bamboo poles weighed down by offerings suspended at the end. These can be seen by the side of roads in every Balinese village.

Ten days after Galungan, the Kuningan festive is held, it is known as the day when the ancestors and Gods are supposed to descend to the family temples and have to be prayed to and

deified. The Kuningan day is an event that is very subdued and celebrated by people in the shrines of the family temple in the houses and the main temple.

Galungan and Kuningan always last three days, which consist of the following event.

The first day is the Penampahan Galungan and Kuningan is not an actual celebration, but a big preparation for the next day’s ceremony. There is a lot to be done, decorating temples, offerings for gods, food for ceremonies etc. Men have to make penjors and prepare babi guling for the ceremony. (Babi guling a local balinese dish – roasted suckling pig).

The second day is the main day for Galungan and Kuningan Day, when all ceremonies happen. Every family will have a ceremony in their family temple and in the village temple. Everyone will be busy with religious ceremonies.

The third day, is called Manis Galungan and Manis Kuningan (‘sweet galungan and kuningan ’). This is when the family can finally celebrate and have a big day off to have fun. Families often spend their time going to the beach. Swimming in the ocean is a symbolic way to clean up from bad energy and bad spirits.

S ...ince the dawn of mankind on Earth the planet has changed so

dramatically, caused both by Mother Nature’s relentless energy to twist, turn and flip the world’s tectonic plates, volcanoes, skies and oceans, and humans’ insatiable demand for resources. So often we hear that the only constant thing in the world is change, therefore those who survive are the ones who are able to change and adapt to new challenges.

However another constant thing in life seems to often be overlooked by most of us: the battle between good and evil. History proves how the two eternal forces always balance each other out, like yin and yang.

Germany is not always known for its enviable advancement in technology, supported by sound and efficient economy, but many remembers it as a country where one of the world’s greatest evils had painted a very dark chapter in history. Iraq, on the other hand, was not always a perilous and unstable land. At the time when Europe was engulfed in inquisitions, Baghdad produced progressive-thinking scholars who introduced new thoughts to the world like algebra and perfected ancient wisdom and sciences which would later provide a strong foundation for Renaissance movements in Europe.

There is no guarantee that things would remain at one side forever. There is no guarantee that a good man would always be good, and a bad man would remain so for the rest of his life.

The same philosophy had inspired the Balinese to create a dance richly loaded with symbolism of the eternal battle between good and evil: the Barong dance. The mythical beast – often takes shape of a lion among other less-known forms of a tiger, a boar and a dragon – is considered a protective spirit of the island, a tradition dating back from the pre-Hindu period. A Barong is usually decorated with gilded leaves, fragments of small mirrors and voluminous dried ijuk (palm fibre) to create a formidable figure representing virtue.

On the other hand Rangda is attributed to evil spirits, instilling fear and inciting chaos among Balinese with her menacing appearance – a demonic figure with


sharp nails and a long unfurled tongue. Her origin can be traced back to the time when King Udayana from the House of Warmadewa ruled Bali in the 10th century.

During his rule, the Balinese king married a Javanese princess, Gunapriyadharmapatni, from the Medang Kingdom – the same kingdom which left magnificent 9th century temples spread across Java as its legacies. The marriage instigated suspicions from the Balinese royal court upon their foreign consort queen’s ambition to include Bali in the realm of the Javanese kingdom.

Gunapriyadharmapatni, later known as Mahendradatta, introduced the worship of Durga, a goddess in Shaktism school of Hinduism often associated with death, in her new land. King Udayana himself later condemned his wife for practicing black magic and banished her from his kingdom. Enraged, humiliated and disappointed, Mahendradatta then summoned all the evil spirits on the island to avenge her

and kill everyone in the kingdom. Rangda, Old Javanese for widow, since then has always been associated with evil.The Barong dance portrays the battle between Barong and Rangda including sequences where the demon queen relentlessly attempts to turn people away from virtue. The finale shows Balinese men with their keris – a traditional dagger – attempting to defeat Rangda, only to meet their own demise for the evil queen was much too powerful. Barong eventually resurrects them and expels Rangda, forcing her to flee and move to the forests on the island. Peace returns to the village, but the mighty Barong does not kill the demon queen, epitomizing a reality in the world where there will always be virtue and evil, constantly battling each other.

Mesmerizing Indonesian Archipelago

Indonesia is a huge archipelago consisting of thousands of islands that stretch from the westernmost point of Sabang to the easternmost point of Merauke. From

Miangas island the northmost to Rote island the southmost, it spread to more than 17.508 islands with over 1 million km2 making Indonesia a massive sand box to explore. This huge archipelago is endowed with a beauty of diverse cultures and nature with distinctive flora and fauna.

There are eight major islands or island groups in this enormous chain. The largest landmasses consist of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi (Celebes) and

Irian Jaya (the western half of Papua New Guinea). The smaller islands fall into two main groups: the Molluccas to the northeast, and the lesser Sunda chain east of Bali. Bali is a unique island, which for a number of reasons can be put into a class of its own.

The favourable condition have attracted a great number of visitors to Indonesia. Visiting Indonesia means seeing and experienceing the unique diverse cultural and astonishing natural beauties that this country has to offer and explore.
