Advent is a time of joy –The messenger in the first reading is the ‘joyful messenger’, and his joy is that God is near and God is coming. This would be the message of Jesus – Jesus’ big conviction that he was the joyful messenger of his Father’s love. He would be the shepherd – the one who cares, knows and actively looks after the sheep. John the Baptist is the voice of joy preaching the new message. Not to get out of the way (like an adult dismissing children) – but get into the Way – walk the way with Jesus.

Voices of Christmas to bring God near – The central message within all the voices of Christmas is that Go to the love of God which is active among us. God’s Christmas voice is I love you, you are all brothers and sisters, and nothing except love is fi-nal.

Not just a voice…but actively loving in word and deed. One way of touching that love is the Mass. Jesus is not just love, but food that nourishes and makes a difference. we bring our ordinary concerns to Mass and let God lighten them and trans-form them, and enlighten us with his word. The voice of God making sense and bringing light into the ordinariness of life.

God is present in his word, and in his body – we wait in joy for the Word to be made flesh.

Lord I believe your word was made flesh and appeared

among us.

El Adviento es un momento de alegría. El mensajero en la pri-mera lectura es el "mensajero alegre", y su alegría es que Dios está cerca y que Dios viene. Este sería el mensaje de Jesús: la gran convicción de Jesús de que él era el mensajero alegre del amor de su Padre. Él sería el pastor, el que cuida, conoce y cui-da activamente de las ovejas. Juan el Bautista es la voz de la alegría que predica el nuevo mensaje. Para no quitarse de en medio (como un adulto que despide a los niños), pero entre en el Camino, camine por el camino con Jesús. Voces de Navidad para acercar a Dios - El mensaje central en todas las voces de la Navidad es que vayan al amor de Dios que está activo entre nosotros. La voz de Dios en Navidad es Te amo, todos ustedes son hermanos y nada, excepto el amor, es definitivo.

No solo una voz ... sino activamente amorosa en palabra y obra. Una forma de tocar ese amor es la misa. Jesús no es solo amor, sino alimento que nutre y hace la diferencia. llevamos nuestras preocupaciones ordinarias a la misa y dejamos que Dios las ilumine y las transforme, y nos ilumine con su pala-bra. La voz de Dios tiene sentido y trae luz a la ordinariedad de la vida.

Dios está presente en su palabra y en su cuerpo; esperamos con alegría que la Palabra se haga carne.

Señor, creo que tu palabra se hizo carne y apareció entre

nosotros.

Our readings today talk about the Second Coming of Christ, the anticipation and the longing for God to come and raise them up. Even in the first reading, the Jewish people were in exile and could see no hope of ever returning to Jerusalem. Yet Isaiah preaches a message of hope. What can we learn from these readings? I think it is that no matter how gloomy things seem, there is always hope because we have a God who has not forgotten us and continually blesses us in our lives. We just need to open our eyes of faith and see the goodness that is around us. Even in these days now, we can tend to give up and see no hope. All of our readings today tell us to keep up the hope, that our God does not leave us in despair. So, let's keep our chins up and our eyes looking forward and our hearts full of hope and love. We can make it through!!

no veía ninguna esperanza de volver a Jerusalén. Sin embargo,

Isaías predica un mensaje de esperanza. ¿Qué podemos aprender

de estas lecturas? Creo que no importa que tan oscuras parezcan

las cosas, siempre hay esperanza porque tenemos un Dios que no

nos ha olvidado y que continuamente nos bendice en nuestras

vidas. Solo necesitamos abrir nuestros ojos de fe y ver la bondad

que nos rodea. Incluso en estos días, podemos darnos por

vencidos y no ver esperanza. Todas las lecturas de hoy nos dicen

que mantengamos la esperanza y de que nuestro Dios no nos

deja en desesperación. Por lo tanto, mantengamos nuestros ojos

mirando hacia adelante y nuestros corazones llenos de esperanza

y amor. ¡Podemos hacerlo!

St. Agatha’s Parishioners Santa Needs Your Help!

This year, poor Santa has so many children on his list, that he can’t get them all. Santa is so sad because so many little boys and girls on his list will be missed. Please help Santa by giving these little boys and girls a Christmas to remember!

On the weekend of November 18 and 19, the St. Agatha Adopt a Family for Christmas Ministry will start distributing the names of the families that need to be adopted for Christmas. We will also be distributing the Angles. If you adopt a family it means that you buy a gift for the family and donate a supermarket gift card and return the gifts and gift card by December 20.

If you do not want to adopt a family, we also have the Angels. You take an angle(s) and buy a gift for the age that is print-ed. If you take an angel, please NO CLOTHING as gifts.

We will also accept gift certificates from stores, supermarkets or $$$ donations and will be distributed to the families that do not get adopted. Please see Gloria after Mass if you are interested in adopt-ing a family, taking an angle or making a donation. Blessings.

Si adopta una familia, se significa que les comprara regalos para los miembros de esa familia y también un certificado para el su-permercado antes del 20 de diciembre. Y para las personas que quieren adoptar, tenemos los angelitos, el cual compra un regalo

para la edad que esta marcada. Si adopta un ángel, por favor NO RO-PA.

First year Confirmation Teach-ers and Student for the donation of the entire meal for our guests.

The students after class with their teacher Adriana all went to the hall to prepare the sandwich-es. Some of them with Adriana helped serve our guests. We feel so blessed when the teachers help the students actually do hands on to reach out and be doers of God's words not just listeners. Prayerfully this one action will stimulate them to reach out in kindness to serve God's people.

We are grateful to everyone for their participation and support of the Bake Sale and Holiday Bou-tique. Our S.H.A.R.E. Ministry leader Azalie N prepped all the gift baskets, baked and with her crew Brenda and her husband Salvador, Cristina M, her son Victor, Catherine, Gloria C prepped the cookies in a jar, and our Ministry Leader Yolanda M baked, served, sold Saturday, served at the 8:30AM

mass after setting up the coffee area, sold, cleaned up, John who served, sold and was there for what else was needed to get us ready for Sunday morning re-turned Sunday afternoon to help clean up. Our Sunday bless-ings to set up and serve were the entire Miguel Family, Chel-lo, her daughter, her grand-daughter and friend, Rachel, Diane Thomas, Gloria C, Maria D, Izabella, Suzette, Tina and her son, Shirley, Flora and her daughter Rosie. Kiara who pro-vided translation and copy-ing, Jose who even though his schedule is hectic on Sunday make time to help us and checked to see we had our needs, Marteen cleaned up be-hind our event and our always there when we have pro-jects to encourage and lend support with our whatever's they bake, donate, set, up, serve, cook, clean and have our backs in the projects we do Marion S and Norma McQ. We are hum-bly grateful and appreciative to God for the blessing of all these wonderful wingless St. Agatha Angels. Amen.
