entrance to the Fellowship Hall that is adjacent to the main parking

lot. Signage and greeters will be in place to welcome people and

give direction.

Q: What if I am in a wheelchair?

What does it mean tobe transformed? MostChristians associatetransformation withbecoming moreChrist-like; that’saccurate.

Throughout the Biblewe are told of thetransformation thatoccurs when we accept Christ as Savior. At that event, though often filled withsignificant emotion, most won’t experi-ence a palpable change. In fact, if you’relike most people, you woke up the nextmorning responding to life as you did themorning before you were saved. Youknew change occurred because you hada memory of the event, and you believedits relevance to your life. While we’re nolonger vulnerable to hell, we are stillvulnerable to Satan, and that vulnerabil-ity shows up on our minds through ourthoughts. Paul didn’t mince words whenhe talked about our minds; for what isbehind, daily renew, take every thoughtcaptive. Jesus didn’t either; be anxiousfor nothing, be still, in everything give

As followers of Jesus, it’s easy to conclude that because we successfully avoid the “bigsins” described in the Ten Commadments, sin is no longer a problem for us. We havea tendency to categorize sin as big or little, really bad or not so bad, acts that must beavoided at all costs or lapses that are understandable and excusable. But sin is sin toGod and all of our sin robs God of His glory in our lives and robs us of the abundantspiritual life we are called to experience.

This series of messages will examine sinful actions and attitudes that we tend totolerate in our daily lives—sins that become, at some level, respectable. It willencourage us to repent of even these “respectable” sins and bring our daily livesunder the Lordship of Jesus to a greater degree.

thanks. Yet asbelievers we oftencontinue the samepatterns of thoughtwe had prior tosalvation, never reallyexperiencing stridesin true transforma-tion. Though ourminds are a battle-field, there are skills

and techniques we can learn toeffectively combat the designs of ourenemy. Even more, we have a respon-sibility to take part in that transforma-tion process. The exciting thing is,science fully supports what God’s wordhas already said!

If you are interested in learning moreabout the nature of thoughts or howyou can begin the process of overcom-ing problematic thought patterns, thenbe sure to attend “Renew Your

Thinking” May 21 in the Fellowship Hallat 6 p.m. Andrea Baugher and friendswill provide a special time of worshipand light refreshments will be served.

Karl Road Baptist Church was an exciting and busy place during the summer of 2010.Fellowship Hall and the area outside the kitchen was filled with children having fun, enjoying lunch together and learning about Jesus’ love for them. As a result, wehave seen growth in our After School Program and boys’ and girls’ clubs through thisyear. It has been a joy and sometimes a challenge to welcome and include thesechildren into our midst. Looking ahead to the summer of 2011, we anticipate evenmore children and more opportunities to share the good news of Christ’s love withthose in our neighborhood.

The theme of the Jesse Coles Day Camp will be God’s Most Precious Gift, Jesus. Those planning day camp took a giant leap of faith and decided to write our ownprogram this year in order to lay a foundation to help children understand who Jesusis and what He has done for us. The week will focus on Jesus’ life and purpose incoming to earth to save us. Preschool, Elementary, and Middle School children willhave slightly different lessons and memory work, but every child will be taught whatJesus’ life means to us today along with a clear presentation of the salvationmessage. We are excited to have all of the session leaders in place and planninggreat music, crafts and activities. Here is where you come into the picture. Manyadults are needed to make the week what it can be in reaching out to children andtheir families. A day camp insert can be found in weekly bulletins. Please pray aboutthe way you can be used by the Lord to help us accomplish that goal. Each personcan help in some way. We look forward to working together for God’s glory and Hispurpose for us in touching our community with His love.

Immediately following the week of day camp, we will launch into our second year ofthe Summer Food Service Program through Columbus schools. We are servingunder the “umbrella” of Grace Apostolic Church as part of a group of 64 sitesaround the area providing free lunch to children who participate in the lunchprogram through the school year. The marvelous part of this opportunity is that anychild from birth through age 18 can participate in the summer program. Our plan isto extend the program time to 11:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. This will enable us tooffer some recreation, crafts, Bible lessons and work in our community garden forchildren who are often alone during the day and enjoy the structured time withfriends. Over 40 volunteers made this program possible last summer. We will needeven more help to offer the program planned for this year. Please pray about howand when you can be part of this worthwhile ministry to our community. You maycall the church office (885-3929) or sign the registration form to let us know whenyou can serve on any Monday through Friday from June 27 to August 19. Moredetailed information will be coming soon.

We will end the summer with a “Back to School Party” again this August. KRBCwas able to provide backpacks filled with school supplies for every child whoattended last year’s event. Through your help in collecting school supplies andpraying for the summer ministry, that will be a reality again this August.
