The Key to Igniting One’s Passion (All)
Dr. Glen Schultz, Kingdom Education Ministries Director
Igniting one’s passion for education begins with understanding God’s purpose for
education. Passion is a result of the convictions that have a grip on one’s life. If
the home, church and school are going to be successful in raising a generation of
young people who are committed disciples of Jesus Christ, kingdom education
must be a conviction and not merely a preference. Understanding God’s purpose
for education is the foundation for developing this conviction.

Recovering Classical Theism (Parts 1, 2, and 3)
(I; S; Adm; C)
Michael Williams, Bible Teacher, Bay Area Christian School
Part 1: J.I. Packer wrote that “reducing God to pigmy proportions” cannot help but
produce “pigmy Christians.” How many of our students have a conception of God
that is so different from what we find in Scripture? How does your understanding of
God align with Classical Theism (e.g., what the church has taught historically about
the nature of God)? This session will explore two of the basic propositions of Classical Theism,
namely, that God is incomprehensible and spiritual. The hope of the session leader is that attendees
will leave with a greater knowledge of who God is, yet affirming that they know so little of Him!
Part 2: God asks the question, “To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like
him?” (Isaiah 40:25). The reality is that our God is an incomparable God. This session will explore
some of those attributes of God that identify Him as incomparable – attributes sometimes called
“incommunicable attributes” (e.g., aseity, immutability, omniscience, etc.). The hope of the session
leader is that attendees will leave with a greater knowledge of who God is, yet affirming that they
know so little of Him!
Part 3: Can you articulate the Christian doctrine of the Trinity? Can your students? Is the
doctrine of the Trinity a central doctrine of the Christian faith or a non-essential? This session will
explore what Classical Theism has said about the nature of God as triune. The session leader will
address heresies we must avoid in our explanation of the doctrine while working toward a positive
articulation of what the Bible teaches. The goal of the session leader is to equip attendees to defend
the historic Christian teaching regarding the Trinity.

All Together (E; I; S)
Dr. Ron McNeel, Life Science Instructor and Science Chair, First Baptist Christian

Imaginary evolution claims dinosaurs evolved 220 million years ago and
disappeared 65 million years ago; millions of years before man supposedly evolved.
How does a creationist respond? Does the Bible write about dinosaurs? Did Noah
have dinosaurs on the ark? When did dinosaurs go extinct… or have they? This session will
explore the Biblical account, the scientific facts, and recorded history of mankind to address these
issues. This session will be presented in a format understandable by science AND non-science
majors with the idea of incorporation of the truth in K-12 classrooms. All aged students want to talk
about dinosaurs. Come and learn about the “big boys”!

Engaging in Today's Culture War (All)
Dr. Glen Schultz, Kingdom Education Ministries Director
Every generation that has existed since the Fall has had to engage in a culture
war. If the home, church and school are not prepared to engage in today’s culture

Christianity and the Problem of Neutrality in the Classroom
(P; E; I; S; Adm)
Renton Rathbun, Biblical Worldview Specialist, BJU Press
The curriculum a teacher produces for a course outlines the worldview students are
intended to have when they complete the course. Without help, a curriculum will not
be able to sustain a biblical worldview and will slip into neutrality. This occurs when the
textbook (which is at the heart of the curriculum) presents a secular view of the subject. This also
occurs when the textbook presents an unconvincing biblical worldview. In both cases, students are
persuaded to believe that Christianity is an “add-on” in their lives, not the foundation upon which they
are able to interpret the world. In this presentation we take a hard look at this problem and develop a
solution to this issue through the use of best practices in biblical worldview shaping beginning with
the textbook.
A Biblical Worldview of Math? Does it add up? (E; I; S; Adm)
Renton Rathbun, Biblical Worldview Specialist, BJU Press
Typically, attempting to integrate Bible into a math course results in unconvincing biblical
connections and zero advancement of mathematical knowledge. This has been the case because
often Bible integration in math ends up 1) changing the subject from math to religion, 2) stopping the
learning process intended in the course, and 3) making the connections that are made seem random
and/or unrelated. This problem is often rooted in wrong assumptions about mathematics itself. This
workshop defines mathematics from a biblical worldview and develops strategies that allow for 1)
discussions of biblical worldview to emerge from the mathematical concepts themselves (not
changing the subject), 2) deepening the student’s understanding of math (advancing mathematical
knowledge), and 3) giving the student a proper perspective of mathematical limits (connections are
cohesive and unified).
What Should A Bible Program Look Like in a Christian School? (P; E; I; S; Adm)
Renton Rathbun, Biblical Worldview Specialist, BJU Press
When the Bible program at a Christian school is thriving so also is the spiritual lives of the students
and faculty. Unfortunately, Bible courses often suffer from a lack of intentional, year-to-year
scaffolding of subject matter, a lack of relevance to other subjects, and a lack of rigor that equals the
rigor of other courses. This presentation demonstrates that all these issues can be overcome when
we develop an intentional, biblical worldview of Bible curriculum, in its scope, relevance, and rigor.
Is the Bible a Textbook? How Scripture Makes Every Subject Possible
(P; E; I; S; Adm)
Renton Rathbun, Biblical Worldview Specialist, BJU Press
In this presentation, we explore a biblical worldview of subject matter taught in the classroom. We
will begin with the biblical premise that there are no neutral topics in the universe (yes, that includes
math). We will then discover how it is possible for the Bible to be the foundation of all classroom
thinking (English/literature, math, science, social studies, etc.). Lastly, we will discuss practical
strategies to help set the groundwork for the school year by implementing Scripture from day one.
