This soap was the first project in my Lavender Series,

which features five quick and easy DIY projects using

the lavender flower and essential oil. You can also see

my video of the entire soap-making process!

In this article, I will show you how to make this

fabulous lavender honey lemon soap. It’s very easy to

make, and creates a creamy, fragrant, luxurious soap.

The honey and glycerin base are humectants that

attract moisture to the skin. The goat’s milk conditions

the skin, and the lavender and lemon provide a

soothing and invigorating experience. I used an all-

natural goat’s milk melt-and-pour glycerin soap base

because I wanted to avoid unnecessary chemicals and

preservatives that can cause irritation.

Directions V Use a cheese grater or a zester to remove the

lemon peel.

V Firmly press a paper towel over the lemon zest to

absorb the excess moisture.

V Cut the soap base into 1-inch cubes and place in a

glass bowl.

V Create a double boiler by filling the pot with 2 to 2½

inches of water. Place the glass bowl on the rim of

at large pot or Dutch oven and heat to boiling, then

reduce heat to a simmer. You can also microwave

the soap in 30-minute increments, but I prefer to

melt it on the stove.

V Melt soap over medium-low heat, being sure to

stir regularly. After the soap is completely melted,

transfer it to the glass measuring cup.

V Whisk in the honey, lemon zest, lavender buds,

lavender essential oil, and lemon essential oil. Then

pour the mixture into the silicone molds.

V Spray the wet soap with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol

or surgical spirits to eliminate bubbles. I used 70%

isopropyl alcohol.

V Let the soap cool and harden completely before

gently removing from the mold. I placed my soap

in the freezer for a couple of hours to speed up the

process.

I’m really happy with the way the soap came out. It has

a very pleasant lavender fragrance, and the colors from

the lavender and the lemon complement each other

perfectly! I had extra soap mixture and poured it into

a silicone loaf mold and then after the soap hardened,

cut them into small pieces with my crinkle cutter.

These make great sample sizes and gifts!

This super simple recipe for a calming and soothing lavender tea is one

of my favorites to make. It's is great to drink before bed or any time you

want to relax and wind down from a hectic day. The floral flavor from the

lavender reminds me of a combination of Earl Grey with the freshness

of peppermint.

Ingredients & Supplies V 1 tbsp of lavender buds (culinary grade)

V 1 tbsp of fresh or dried peppermint leaves

V 1 tsp of honey (or to taste)

V Tea strainer

V 8 oz. boiling hot water

Making Your TeaAdd the lavender buds and mint leaves to the tea strainer and steep in your

favorite mug of boiling hot water for 5-7 minutes. Sweeten with honey or

your favorite sweetener. Sip slowly and enjoy a few precious moments of

serenity. Your worries and concerns will yield to a newly found peace in

your soul—well, at least for a few minutes!

Here's a super easy recipe for soothing achy muscles and tired feet. You

can combine lavender and Epsom salt for a natural healing remedy that will

relax all of your aches and pains away. Epsom salt is a naturally occurring

pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Some of its countless

health benefits include relaxing the nervous system, relieving skin problems,

soothing back pain and aching limbs, easing muscle strain, healing cuts,

treating cold and congestion, and drawing toxins from the body.

Ingredients & Supplies V 1 cup of Epsom salt

V 1 to 2 tbsp of lavender buds

V 10 to 15 drops of lavender essential oil

V glass jar

Simply add the Epsom salt, the lavender buds, and the lavender essential oil

to your glass jar. Screw on the lid, and give the contents a vigorous shake to

mix thoroughly.

For an extra touch, I used water-based ink to stamp a botanical image to a

piece of card stock. I punched the image out with a 2" circle punch. I then

cut a piece of twine, threaded it through a small punched hole in the tag,

and then tied the tag to the glass jar.

How to use the soakAdd half the mixture to a foot-soaking basin filled with warm water. Sit back,

and enjoy!

Easy Lavender Spritz

Who doesn't enjoy the soft and relaxing scent of lavender in the air?

But with all of the overly sweet, allergy-aggravating room sprays out

there, it can be difficult incorporating this fresh fragrance in your

home.

Good thing you can make your lavender spray for bathrooms, linens, or

even as a light body splash!

Ingredients V 7 oz. distilled water

V 1 oz. witch hazel

V 10-15 drops lavender essential oil

V 8 oz. spray bottle

DirectionsSimply mix distilled water with the witch hazel and your favorite

lavender essential oil in an 8 oz. spray bottle.

The witch hazel helps the essential oil disperse evenly in the water.
