royal heritageThe birthplace of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, the Royal Borough of Greenwich is one of only four London boroughs to be awarded Royal Borough status.
The Queen granted this honour to Greenwich in 2012, in recognition of the town’s historic royal links and pre-eminent status as a Unesco World Heritage Site, the home of the Prime Meridian, Greenwich Mean Time, the Old Royal Naval College and the National Maritime Museum.
Greenwich holds a unique and important status in the world, every place on earth is measured in terms of its distance east or west from the Greenwich Meridian, the home of time. With a global standard set by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich sets its own pace, creates its own atmosphere and has its own unique spirit.

Greenwich Square 25
Based on best practice urban design principals, Greenwich Square creates a sense of place and belonging, as well as providing a new destination for the community. The masterplan design offers people a strong connection to their surroundings, promoting a sense of community whilst balancing this with a distinct private address for individual homeowners.
Comprising of a series of blocks, each with varying scale and architectural expression, each block is unique and offers people different experiences as they walk around the site, stimulating their senses and providing visual interest. This is reinforced through the diversification of materials and finishes, such as the Greenwich Centre’s ribbon wave motif, through to a contemporary adaptation of the London townhouse.
Supplementing the architecture, a series of spaces have been created throughout the site designed to suit different needs. From the vibrant public square, to the residents-only communal gardens and private courtyards, Greenwich Square offers the perfect balance between indoor and outdoor living.

sustainable lifeliving a
Sustainability has been integral to the design of Greenwich Square. Not only does good practice in sustainability help the environment for years to come, it also benefits home owners.
Living Costs
These initiatives can assist in the reduction of day-to-day living costs:
On-site car club: no need to own your own car, just hire by the hour instead.
Combined Heat and Power: a centralised heat and power facility providing hot water and electricity, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and your monthly heating bill.
Engineered facades: well insulated to control heat loss / gain and air permeability, thereby reducing your heating and cooling costs.
Green roofs: saving energy costs and reducing CO2 emissions.
Green Living
Sustainability led initiatives, designed to support the environment:
Recycling facilities: communal provision facilitating responsible disposal of household waste.
Bike spaces: secure and under cover, helping to promote healthy living options and reduced car usage.
Fabric First: an approach to the design and construction of new homes, with the aim of using materials that enhance sustainability through higher thermal performance.
Rainwater harvesting and re-use measures: based on site, rainwater recycling will reduce water costs within the new Greenwich Centre.
Electric car charging points: located within the residents' communal basement car park.
Best Practice Design
Homes designed and built for future generations, not just for today:
Code for Sustainable Homes: rest in the knowledge that all homes at Greenwich Square are designed to Code Level 4, the national benchmark for the design and construction of sustainable new homes.
Building For Life "Silver Standard": a national design standard that measures the quality of new homes and neighbourhoods.
Lifetime Homes: design considerations that aim to provide adaptability and flexibility in housing design to suit the changing needs of occupants.
CEEQUAL "Very Good": a sustainability award for landscaping and public realm works.
