WHY THIS INVENTION WAS MADE Thomas Edison invented the light
bulb because he was looking for a way to turn electricity into a
light to light homes. The main reason was to replace the current
way to light a home, as it posed as fire threats.

minimize the amount of watt usage while giving off more light. Yes,
the light bulb was made on purpose.

ABOUT THE INVENTOR Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847.
Edison made many inventions but one of the most important one was
the light bulb. The purpose of the light bulb was to light a room
without using a fire. As you can see he succeeded. Edison passed
away on October 18, 1931. At the age of 84.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ECONOMIC IMPACT Prior to the light bulb, people
used gas light, candles and wood fires. None of these were a good
substitute for daylight. The light bulb was as bright or brighter
than daylight. This allowed people to extended their day as long as
they wanted for the first time ever.

FUN FACTS Edison's light bulb came with a warning: Do not
attempt to light with a match. Thomas Edison was not the only
person to invent the light bulb Davy Humphry also invented the
light bulb one year before Thomas Edison did.
