From The Holster’s Side
Second Baptist Church
MISSION AND VISION
Section I. Mission
Our mission is to fulfill the Great Commandment (Mark 12:30-31)
and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) to our church,
community and the world.
Section 2. Vision
Our vision is for every person to find their full potential in Jesus Christ
and to give their full potential for Jesus Christ through witnessing,
teaching and ministering to all.
THANK YOU SECOND BAPTIST FAMILY, SO MUCH!!
Mary Ruth and I would like to say THANK YOU!! to each
and every one of you for the abundance of cards, gifts, hugs, words of
love and encouragement, etc. etc., that you have shared with us the
past year. As we look back on 2017, we realize once again how
wonderfully blessed we are to serve and minister with you here at
SBC. You are a marvelously gracious and giving family, and we give
thanks to our Lord regularly for the opportunity of serving here.
THANK YOU SBC!! WE LOVE YOU BUNCHES!!
LOOKING TOWARD 2018
Having been blessed by God with a wonderful and productive
2017, we now look forward to a marvelous new year of worship,
praise, fellowship, and ministry in His Blessed Name. Our PraiSing
Choir will begin regular rehearsals on Wednesday, January 10th,
following our weekly fellowship meal together. Then on Monday,
January 15th, our Glory Belles Handbell Choir will begin practicing
for their spring programs. Many wonderful musical opportunities
await us this coming year, and there is always room (and desire) for
more participants. So come and join the fun and fellowship as we lead
our congregation in praise and worship each Sunday.
PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST
So much awaits us in 2018. Easter Celebrations, Mission
Trips, VBS, Banquets, Musicals, and on and on. Don’t forget that
first and foremost, we are to draw closer and closer to our precious
Lord and to our wonderful church family. The very best way to do
that is through prayer and regular Bible Study. And the very best way
to accomplish Bible study is through our weekly Bible Study Groups
here at SBC.
We have a meeting place (class) with a wonderful teacher for
each of you, so come and join us each Sunday at 9:45 AM as we
study, learn, and fellowship together.
So, THANKS AGAIN for a wonderful 2017. And THANKS
early for an even more ‘wonderfuller’ 2018. YOU ARE AWESOME!
Always remember: Luke 10:27-28
Bring Your Bible and a Friend,
and I’ll See You Sunday!
Jon-Roy Ramsour
“I’m not there yet, nor have I become perfect; but I am
charging on to gain anything and everything the Anointed One,
Jesus, has in store for me - and nothing will stand in my way because
he has grabbed me and won’t let me go.”
“Brothers and sisters, as I said, I know I have not arrived; but
there’s one thing I am doing: I’m leaving my old life behind, putting
everything on the line for this mission. I am sprinting toward the
only goal that counts: to cross the line, to win the prize, and to hear
God’s call to resurrection life found exclusively in Jesus the
Anointed.” (The Apostle Paul, Philippians 3:12 - 14)
2017 has ended and there is no worry, grief, heartache,
rejection, or grudge we should bring into 2018, except what we want
to carry over. I love what Paul has said, “I’m leaving my old life
behind, putting everything on the line for this mission.”
The last message for 2017 is, “What Is There Left To Do?”
In Matthew 19:20, the young man ask Jesus, “. . . What am I still
lacking?” God has given us an EMPTY CALENDAR. May we plan
for the new year to GIVE GOD OUR ALL!!!
THANK YOU from the Church Staff to our Church Family
for your generous love gifts, cards, and calls. We appreciate your
kindness and generosity It is an honor to serve a wonderful Church
Family!!!
Your gifts toward the SBC Christmas Fund helped 14 families
this Christmas season. We received over $2,100 toward this
ministry . . . the most we have ever received. I am thankful for a
loving church family who “SEES” the need and then “ACTS” toward
meeting that need.
HALLELUJAH!!! We exceeded our Lottie Moon Christmas
Goal of $10,000. As of Sunday, December 31, we have received
$11,162.14. AND . . . we still have 4 more weeks to go.
FINALLY . . . As we draw to the end of 2017 and the
beginning of 2018, remember to (1) stay on course, (2) keep the faith,
and (3) finish the race God has set before you. “Tomorrow is the first
blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one.” Brad Paisley
From your Shepherd’s heart,
Michael Holster
