It’s tour -time, but also relax-time, for the Finnish quintet that as always excites us.
After the beginning of a challenging year, with endless tours, a myriad of interviews for newspapers, websites etc, collaborations and tours still plan (not to mention the various side-projects, which seem
go in fashion this year, HIM are finally getting ready to rest, closing with a flourish in their beloved, land of the lakes!

Interview of the (past) month:
ROAD RULES
1. KEEP YOUR RIDE COLORFUL"that's very important. A book was written about rock bands' riders and HIM were included as a band who always asked for bibles. That's quite true- it was Mige, our bass player, and he wanted to collect as many bibles as he could in foreign languages. The coolest thing we had on our rider was when we regulary asked for the champion of the local chess club to be at the gig. So we gave the chess players free tickets and booze and played chess with them before gigs. We had an actual chess room set up. That's was pretty rock 'n' roll".
2. WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
"If you are going to maintain the quality of your performance, you
need to eat well. I learned that lesson once because I made a bet with myself that I was going to see how far I could go on a diet of just beer and Margherita pizzas. After a week, I was really skinny but I had this funny little belly that was rock solid. I couldn't shit and I had zits all over my face. i survived for four weeks like that! But you need to try things on tour because the life of a touring rock musician is, to be honest, pretty boring."
3. ENTERTAIN YOURSELF
"We used to have different themes on our tours. One of them was shooting guns, which I have to admit, wasn't something in which I participated. In America it's very easy to get hold of an AK-47. We had a miraculous day in the desert, among the cacti, were shooting AK-47s at their own instruments. I've still got Mige's bass on my wall, shot through with bullets. It looks so good".
4. MAKE MOVIES FOR FUN
" On the next tour, we're talking about making a slasher film. We're thinking about the
script at the moment. I'd rather make a snuff film, although that depends on how well the album is doing and whether we can find replacement members of the quickly enough after we've killed them…The lads are quite up for it because no-one will know who's going to get killed. It could be me. It's good to live on the edge of insanity".
5. DO PUSH UPS
"I used to be pretty athletic when I was younger and this keeps me occupied. I do about five sets of 30, then 300 sit-ups in sets of 50. That's one way of spending your time. I get less time to do it in America because the venues are so far apart. You spend all night on a bus, then most of the following day too - you sleep a bit more in the day, do a few interviews and then, all of a sudden, it's time to play chess or shoot guns"
