To find your GPA you have to add up your grades (the points) you have for all your classes and then divide the sum by the number of the classes you have and that will be your GPA! You may ask, “How can I be successful? How can I get good grades? It's too much work!” However, having good grades isn't about using your whole life stressing about math, English, etc. You just have to try you're best at the right times. It's going to be worth it in the end. It's just about paying attention in class, doing your homework, and studying the subject you're having trouble in. If you do a little everyday, your hard work will add up. You can do it, Mayans! You can reach a GPA of 3.7 or higher! You won’t regret it. Q: "What inspired you to play flag football?" A: "My brother inspired me.[ He used to] play flag football. I used to go to all of his games. [I got inspired by observing him play.] I started to learn by [examining] how they played." Q: "What are the goals of you becoming a player of flag football?" A: "[In the future,] I want to join a football team." Q: "If you were to join a football team, who would you play for?" A: "I would like to join the 49ers or the Stealers." Q: "What grade did you become inspired by your brother?" A: "[When I was] in 3rd grade my brother was in 9th grade. We would always attend his games." It's good to be yourself. Cynthia Buenrostro turned out to be a wonderful example to other girls all around the school. More girls are now on the team! someone you consider an enemy, you should always defend a fellow Mayan in need. Thank you to these four very courageous students for speaking up! Last but not least, the pep rally ended on a wet stage. The potato balloon fight consisted of class representatives from your first period class. It was an exciting competition with lots of splashes. The winning class was Ms.Chai's class who won a donut party! We hope you had some fun at this month's pep rally and felt our Mayan school spirit! See you next month.

Robotics Club Is Fun by Maili Bautista

__________________________________________________________ In Robotics Club our objective is to successfully put together a robot that can be able to launch, throw or carry a ball into a net to get some points for our team. Robotics is a fun

club to join for designing and putting together your own robot! We try our best every meeting to put together these impressive robots that go on under the driver's control. Our competition games are played on a 12ft by 12ft arena. The objective of the game is to get a higher score than the opposing team. The driver/controller of the robot directs the robot towards the point goal and launches or drops the ball in the net goal for 1 to 5 points. After that, there are many chances to get even more points! One way is in the middle of the round the the players of the game are given the chance to get double points. A second way of getting bonus points is elevation of the robots. Elevation of the robots is when the round/game ends, the teams are given the chance to get 25 to 50 points by lifting their robot about 4 to 12 inches off the ground. Overall, Robotics Club is a fun after school activity to join for designing and putting together your own robot!!

Mexico Independence Day by Monserrat Velarde

__________________________________________________________ A major celebration of Mexico is the Independence Day each year. September 15th is when the celebration of independence begins. On September 15th, 1810, Father Hidalgo, who had been planning a revolt against the Spanish government, discovered that the Spanish had ordered his arrest. He rallied the people and have a speech known as 'Grito de Delores', and told the people 'Viva Mexico', and 'Viva la independencia!' The fight for independence began, and the Mexicans went to war against the Spanish. Although Father Hidalgo was captured and executed within a year, the Mexicans continued their fight for eleven years and finally gained their independence.

This year the president of Mexico, Enrique Peñanieto, he gave the yell of delores'. The president also waved the flag to mexico after shouting. They celebrated with fireworks, parties, food, dance, and music. Mexicans were covered with red, white, and green. This celebrations were celebrated in different countries.

Mayans, we leave you with this quote to ponder on…and we thank you for reading The Mayan Voice!
