A Movie Recommendation Theres an award-winning documentary (I saw it on Netflix its also on Ama-
zon) called The Overnighters Its the story of a former LCMS pastor in North Dakota which is currently and in recent years the home of the boom-
ing oil business because of fracking People from all over the countrymdash
actually all over the worldmdashheaded and are heading to the great white North Dakota looking for work Many formerly smallish towns like the one in the documentary have been inundated by tran-
sient blue collar workers
The transformation of the area almost feels like the wild west because (sadly) with transient blue collar workers comes the natural corollary of all their baggage and heartbreak That translates into neighborhoods that are less safe lifestyles
that are more godless and above all astronomical housing costs that make for extremely desperate people
Enter Pastor Jay Reinke and Concordia Lutheran Church in Williston ND
Pastor Reinke started a program called Overnighters and opened their doors to some of the transients blowing through
town in search of work What started with a few people sleeping in their cars in the parking lots transformed into people
sleeping all over the church buildingmdashincluding even in the midst of the pews in the sanctuaries By the end of its two-year stretch over a thousand people had slept in or around the church being fed physically and spiritually
I do not wish to spoil the documentary for you but I will say that the journey throughout is painful At every turn Pastor
Reinke is caught between rocks and hard places The stubborn get out of my town attitude of the city council made me hate the city council The obdurate hypocrisy of the townsfolk made me hate the townsfolk The ignorant nonsense that
came from some of the congregation members made me hate the congregation And the tragic end of the program and
Pastor Reinkes downfall made me hate hellip well it just made me hate pretty much the entire sinful world in which we live I wanted to throw up scream and pray all at the same time (Some recommendation huh)
Yes Watch this movie Take notes on this movie Im even toying with the idea of doing an extended Bible Study on this
movie Because the themes involved in the movie typify the raw blood-and-guts struggles of Christianity Forgiveness
hospitality hypocrisy redemption punishment politics congregational goals and all within the context of the LCMS Fi-nally watch this movie because in a lot of ways it reminded me of Albion anxiety over what the town was is and should
be It made me wonder if Albion suddenly became a boom town how would we handle it Would we open our lives to the dangerous filth of humanity or would we shelter away and wish for our country club back
Watch it and tell me what you think If enough people watch it Ill get a discussion group going next month

Little Lambs of Jesus Preschool amp Childcare Center
Hello from the Center We have good news We have bad news I will start with the good news The good news is that our preschool enrollment is growing for
the 2015-16 school year We recently had our open house and several families came and some enrolled too We expect many more in the next few weeks The first day for 4 year olds is Sept 14 and on the 15th the 3 year olds will start Pray that God sends us many children to share HIS love with Some of the best news comes from the fact that we have our new flat bed cart It was made with love by Roger amp Betty Weston WE are so thankful that they once again answered our call for help More good news comes in the form of the enrollment of our infants and our toddlers Those rooms are bursting at the seams with excitement They are very energetic very active and happy most of the time We had to order 2 more cribs to accommodate the numbers Its a juggling act to figure it all out sometimes but I think it works pretty well Mary Campa has joined our staff and she is working with Kristan in the toddler room We are very happy to wel-come her aboard The extra hands are always needed So now the bad news comes Because we have enrolled so many babies and toddlers we are full and not able to accommodate any more children at this time in those 2 rooms Praise and thanks to God for sending us those chil-dren to minister to Its a great thing The bad news is that we have to put several families on a waiting list until spots open up in the future Bad news for those we cant take right now for sure Our minds continue to try and work out a plan to open up more spots The preschool age childcare room still has a few spots left Good news bad news Jesus died on the cross for you and me Jesus loves us all Our sins are forgiven Jesus is blessing our center beyond all measure ALL of that is GREAT news In Him Dana amp Jenny

OFFICE CLOSED Monday September 7 for Labor Day
A Movie Recommendation Theres an award-winning documentary (I saw it on Netflix its also on Ama-
zon) called The Overnighters Its the story of a former LCMS pastor in North Dakota which is currently and in recent years the home of the boom-
ing oil business because of fracking People from all over the countrymdash
actually all over the worldmdashheaded and are heading to the great white North Dakota looking for work Many formerly smallish towns like the one in the documentary have been inundated by tran-
sient blue collar workers

Hello from the Center We have good news We have bad news I will start with the good news The good news is that our preschool enrollment is growing for
the 2015-16 school year We recently had our open house and several families came and some enrolled too We expect many more in the next few weeks The first day for 4 year olds is Sept 14 and on the 15th the 3 year olds will start Pray that God sends us many children to share HIS love with Some of the best news comes from the fact that we have our new flat bed cart It was made with love by Roger amp Betty Weston WE are so thankful that they once again answered our call for help More good news comes in the form of the enrollment of our infants and our toddlers Those rooms are bursting at the seams with excitement They are very energetic very active and happy most of the time We had to order 2 more cribs to accommodate the numbers Its a juggling act to figure it all out sometimes but I think it works pretty well Mary Campa has joined our staff and she is working with Kristan in the toddler room We are very happy to wel-come her aboard The extra hands are always needed So now the bad news comes Because we have enrolled so many babies and toddlers we are full and not able to accommodate any more children at this time in those 2 rooms Praise and thanks to God for sending us those chil-dren to minister to Its a great thing The bad news is that we have to put several families on a waiting list until spots open up in the future Bad news for those we cant take right now for sure Our minds continue to try and work out a plan to open up more spots The preschool age childcare room still has a few spots left Good news bad news Jesus died on the cross for you and me Jesus loves us all Our sins are forgiven Jesus is blessing our center beyond all measure ALL of that is GREAT news In Him Dana amp Jenny

the 2015-16 school year We recently had our open house and several families came and some enrolled too We expect many more in the next few weeks The first day for 4 year olds is Sept 14 and on the 15th the 3 year olds will start Pray that God sends us many children to share HIS love with Some of the best news comes from the fact that we have our new flat bed cart It was made with love by Roger amp Betty Weston WE are so thankful that they once again answered our call for help More good news comes in the form of the enrollment of our infants and our toddlers Those rooms are bursting at the seams with excitement They are very energetic very active and happy most of the time We had to order 2 more cribs to accommodate the numbers Its a juggling act to figure it all out sometimes but I think it works pretty well Mary Campa has joined our staff and she is working with Kristan in the toddler room We are very happy to wel-come her aboard The extra hands are always needed So now the bad news comes Because we have enrolled so many babies and toddlers we are full and not able to accommodate any more children at this time in those 2 rooms Praise and thanks to God for sending us those chil-dren to minister to Its a great thing The bad news is that we have to put several families on a waiting list until spots open up in the future Bad news for those we cant take right now for sure Our minds continue to try and work out a plan to open up more spots The preschool age childcare room still has a few spots left Good news bad news Jesus died on the cross for you and me Jesus loves us all Our sins are forgiven Jesus is blessing our center beyond all measure ALL of that is GREAT news In Him Dana amp Jenny
