Our atten- tion changes during November – we begin to think about snow, slippery roads, and dressing for the weather to protect ourselves. In November we also begin thinking about people. During November and the first couple of weeks in December most of us will receive numerous opportuni- ties to send money to colleges, institutions working to solve medical issues such as cancer, and other organizations whose purposes are to help. We will be contacted because they know that internally we care about others, and we are willing to give to help the less fortu- nate. Our United Methodist missions are part of those seeking fi- nancial and spiritual support. I want to thank all of you who stepped forward to help our church resolve a 2017 budget issue. To date we have raised almost $11,000. Thank you for helping our church resolve this financial issue. November is also the month when we give thanks to God for all the blessings we receive. God has blessed us in so many ways. Our congregation is sensitive to the needs of others. Not only did we raise the money to help our budget, we also received $5,969.00 for victims of the numerous storms, fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other types of weather issues that have done extreme damage since last summer. We are fortunate to have UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) so that every penny we give to special mission projects goes to the project and its purpose. No Administrative fees are taken from these special offerings. Reach- ing out and helping the victims of these natural disastersis what Christianity is all about. Jesus told us to love our neighbors where ever we are. We are to be Gods love in a world where love is missing. November 23, Thanksgiving Day, is a day and time when most of us sit down as families. We feel good about being united as families, and many of us will travel by car, plane, or train to be with our families. I hope you might take a minute and have a conversa- tion with members of your family and talk about the necessity for peace.

Scripture:

Sermon: “Live it, or Leave it”

Our world is being rocked with suggestions that life as we know it may end, that some of the angry leaders might step for-ward and destroy the gift God has given — life on this plan-et. We want to pray every day for peace on earth and good will for all people. If each of us

speaks to a minimum of one person, and then ask them to speak to one other person, we will keep that issue alive and vital.

November is also when our church looks towards the new year. We will be holding our Annual Church Conference on November 20, a time when we will have some good discussions about the ministry and mission of our congregation – everyone is invited to attend. You will also be receiving information about our 2018 budget, and we ask that all of us seek God’s blessings and di-rection on the decision to support the church financially. Pledging is a spiritual activity, for we are returning to God a portion of what God has given us. When we believe in God, and accept the eternal life that Jesus has promised, we are in a position of giving thanks and we need to respond. Our response includes participating in the congregational life, being involved in missions, and financially sup-porting the Church. Please consider your pledge carefully, and then ask for God’s blessings. When all of us give from our hearts, great things happen! Thank you for being part of the mighty cloud of wit-nesses who encourage and support ministry at FUMC in Fayette-ville, NY.

Blessings,

Bob

SPECIAL GIFT REQUEST – THANK YOU!! Wow! The Finance Committee extends its gratitude to everyone who has helped FUMC with their special gifts. Your generosity has resulted in raising ($10,760.00) towards the ($12,319.00) 2017 budget deficit. Thank you for helping us care for our church. You are a blessing! Thank you,

Linda Saunders, FUMC Treasurer

THE 2017 PUMPKIN SALE

o ur 6th annual, held over 4 weekends was a success bringing in $1900

that will go towards the oper-ating budget of FUMC. Thank you to Jeff Haines who grew most of the pumpkins and to all of you who helped pick, set up, sell, and purchased one or more pumpkins. Without your support the Annual Pumpkin Sale would not be possible. Golden Pumpkin Award: Linda Saunders is the recipi-ent this year of the Golden Pumpkin Award for all her enthusiasm and work in all aspects of this project. Thank you, Linda.

FUMC Stewardship 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The words “Paid in Full”

invoke a wonderful feeling.

Be it the final payment on a

car, the home mortgage, or

an invoice for car repairs,

to hear that we are paid in

full on a debt owed is a

good place to be. Our

theme for our 2018 Stewardship campaign is “Paid in Full”. As

Christians, one great reward we receive when we accept Jesus

as Lord and Savior into our lives, is the knowledge and assur-

ance that our SIN DEBT has been paid in full!

I’ll be honest. We are facing some serious financial challeng-

es for 2018. A number of very long standing members have

relocated to warmer climates or moved closer to family. Sadly,

a few long standing members have passed away. This said,

my hope is not in or of this world. I know we serve a God of

abundance and prosperity.

Pledge Sunday is November 12th. Pledge cards will be

made available at church November 5th and will be handed out

during services November 12th. You are invited to fill out and

return your pledge for 2018 on Sunday November 12th during

the service. We do understand that some may need more time

in considering their pledge amount. Please have your card

back by Sunday, November 19th if possible.

As you prayerfully consider your financial support of the

church for next year, please consider what having your Sin

Debt paid in full by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross means to you.

Consider this, is your pledge out of worldly obligation? Or is

your pledge out of spiritual adoration? Adoration for a Savior

who died for you and me to pay for our sins. As a family of be-

lievers, Fayetteville UMC is making a difference in the lives of

those inside our walls, and to those we seek to serve outside

our walls. It is a privilege to serve as the stewardship chairper-

son and I look forward to a successful 2018!

Sincerely,

Jeff Haines, Stewardship chair

OUTREACH NEWS FOR NOVEMBER:

I t's Thanksgiving month! A good time to celebrate with family (where possible) all the great gifts God has provided! It's also a good time to PRAY for others world-wide who are experiencing many difficult conditions. Our mission work continues as our

Committee meets this month to allocate the dollar gifts you have giv-en during the year. These gifts assist many people and organiza-tions at all levels: local, conference, national and international through our connectional system.

Returnables: We also continue - all year - to collect your returnable water and soda bottles and cans. Please drop them off either in the Narthex box OR at FM Returnables in Manlius. (Tell staff there to add the deposit to our account, specifically, the Fayetteville United Methodist Church.) FISH (“Friends In Service Here”) PROGRAM: Do you know the FISH program or know someone who needs it? The letters stand for "Friends In Service Here." Volunteers provide rides to medical ap-pointments for residents of the F-M area. Many people who do not drive need this free service. New drivers are needed as well. Can you help occasionally? This congregation helped start FISH years ago; the need is even larger now. Call 315-637-8158 to find out more information.

Meeting: Outreach Committee is meeting Nov. 15th, at 7 pm in Homer Hall.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!!

Bob O'Connor, Outreach Chair

Flood Buckets: The Upper New York Conference Mission Central Hub was in great use

as Mike Block, a member of the VIM Steering Committee and a member at Immanuel

UMC in Camillus, and Dave Greer, President of United Methodist Men at Baldwinsville

UMC, helped load 624 Cleaning Kits (Flood Buckets) and 1,544 Health Kits, in a truck

that would take them to the main campus of Mission Central located at Mechanicsburg

Pa. From there they are shipped to areas where the United Methodist Committee on Re-

lief is helping with hurricane and flood recovery.

Flood Buckets were

funded and prepared

by FUMC kids and

adults! Great job,

everyone!

Purchased snacks from stores are also gladly accepted. Please sign up on the sheet in Homer Hall. Questions? Call Kathy O’Connor at 315-637-3920. Thank you!

Dear Church Members,

It was a real pleasure to be back at UMCF

and to see many of you again. I hope you

all enjoy a healthy and happy fall. God

bless!

Best regards,

Charles Bullen

Thank you for your recent gift (Ed. Note:

from UMC’s Koinonia Group) in the amount

of $300.00, in support of Catholic Chari-

ties Men’s Shelter.

Catholic Charities is the single largest

provider of homeless shelter services in

our county. On any given night, we shel-

ter over 200 men, women and children

who are homeless and struggling with a

variety of issues.

In each case, we provide a safe and

warm place to sleep, a light meal, a place

to get cleaned up and even laundry ser-

vices. We offer practical assistance to

each person to help them get back on

their feet. Most important, we see the face

of God in every man, woman and child

that we have the privilege to serve.

Thank you for your generous support of

our work.

With gratitude,

Michael F. Melara,

Executive Director

Dear United Methodist Church of Fayetteville:

Thank you for your donations of $675.00 on October 18,

2017 to the FM Community Outreach, Inc. Thank you for

your continued support throughout the years.

A recent study found that Feeding America client house-

holds frequently face difficult decisions in an effort to en-

sure they have sufficient food.

• 69% had to choose between food and utilities;

• 67% had to choose between food and transportation;

• 66% had to choose between food and medical care;

• 57% had to choose between food and housing; and

• 31% had to choose between food and education.

Hunger is very real in our FM community. We presently

have over 160 households registered with our outreach.

In 2016, we distributed about 42,000 meals to our hungry

neighbors. Each month we distribute an average of

• 1,700 cans of fruit

• 1,600 cans of vegetables

• 700 rolls of toilet paper, and

• much more!

Your donations will help to feed the hungry in our town.

With sincere thanks,

Linda Napier, Director
