The Mekong received its fame from the legendary God King of ancient Cambodia, King Jayavarman VII, who linked hands with the waters of the

Mekong to build the magnificent Angkor civilization. A journey on the Mekong is an exceptional voyage. Filled with mystery.

Rich in history. A full adventure.

THE NOBLE BROTHERSFrom its icy start in the Tibetan Plateau, the Mekong River winds through China, Burma,

Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia before breaking into tributaries in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. The glistening rice paddies, tangled fruit orchards and floating fish farms of the

delta all depend on this river’s bounty.

Heritage Line operates two luxurious vessels in this lush delta: the father of our fleet, The Jayavarman, and his brother, The Jahan. Custom-ordered to evoke the stately elegance of Indochina and the rich artistry of an Indian Maharaja’s palace, these craft combine old-

world elegance with modern comfort.

In the Mekong Delta, Heritage Line’s cruises explore the age-old ways of life supported by this majestic river. Guests can ride bicycles through the rice fields; sip homemade fruit liqueur in a pomello orchard; and quiet riverside temples. With so much to see and learn,

and so many ways to relax, guests will feel both pampered and invigorated.

Vietnam is perhaps the only country to use the words “land” and “water” to mean “nation”. Crisscrossed by myriad waterways, the only way to experience the Mekong Delta is by boat. Heritage Line’s cruises take you through Vietnam’s rural heartland to Cambodia’s temple-strewn capital. Options include the seven-night Lost Civilization

cruise; the three- or four-night Serenity cruise; the three-night Pearl of the Orient cruise; and the two-night Deep in the Delta cruise. Guests seeking privacy can opt for special

tailor-made excursions.

Heritage Line, a consummate collector designs ships to re-create the past and glory of an era gone-by. Each vessel is distinctive in its décor and setting. Each detail painstakingly crafted, to remake history. Authenticity, tradition, art and exploration lie at the heart of our compilation

of the exclusive. Vessels with their own tales to tell.

JAYAVARMAN A STORY FOR A GOD KING

The majestic Jayavarman is considered the father in Heritage Line’s “family” of cruise ships. This vessel was named after Angkor’s most venerated king, who ruled from 1181 to 1218, and was a devout Buddhist. King Jayavarman oversaw the construction of some of the most famous temples in Angkor, including Ta Prohm, Preah Khan and the unforgettable Bayon.

Inspired by the serenity and artistry associated with this great Khmer monarch, The Jayavarman’s design was also influenced by the French cruise liner Normandie, which launched in 1935. Traveling between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh, the Jayavarman marries the art deco charm of 1930’s France with the romance of Indochina. Measuring 57.8 meters from bow to stern, the Jayavarman holds 27 elegantly decorated cabins.

Thanks to its intricate woodcarvings, Khmer bas-reliefs and Vietnamese lacquer paintings, this impressive cruise ship resembles a floating art gallery. Wherever they look, guests are reminded of the local arts and culture.

With three-and-a-half decks the Jayavarman is as spacious as it is beautiful. Guests can admire Khmer artifacts in the Henry Mouhot Lounge, mingle in the Club 1930 Bar, dine in the elegant Indochina Dining Hall, and recharge with spa treatments in the

Apsara Spa. A Jacuzzi is located on the top sundeck, which offers spectacular views of the passing delta.

Along with its peaceful beauty, the Mekong Delta is known for its friendly locals. The crewmembers of The Jayavarman are no exception. From the moment they board, guests are made to feel at home. Offering exceptional service, comfort and style, The Jayavarman is a name to remember. This beautiful vessel is an unforgettable means of exploring some of the finest scenery in Asia.

JAYAVARMAN AT A GLANCE

“Henry Mouhot” Lobby Lounge Named after the French archeologist who discovered the Angkor temple complex, the Henry Mouhot Lounge is the perfect place to curl up with a book or an e-book as. It is wifi connected. The lounge also hosts the boutique shop and the reception. The Lounge has a decidedly scholarly air about it – dark furniture with harmonious Asian fabrics, a fine smell of teak wood; white ceiling and rose- painted walls together with a bunch of stunning Khmer artifacts bring back memories of the past French Colonial era.

“Club 1930” Funnel Bar & Lounge Be transported back to 30s and 40s in our Club 1930 Bar and Funnel Lounge. The bar has a warm classical feel and the lounge is spacious and airy. Observe the passing landscape from your dark-wood colonial styled and cushion filled chaise longue or sink in your comfy cane chair for a quick snooze.

Indochina Dining HallIt is difficult not to be wowed by the Indochina Dining Hall. Your breakfast spread – gargantuan and delectable – is lit by the early morning rays of the sun. The hall is natural lighting during day and romantic with its antique ceiling lights in the evening. It offers free style seating and food is served via buffet or set menu.

The Apsara Beauty and Wellness SpaThe Spa is tucked away in a quiet area at the front of the ship on the main deck. The room is designed to accommodate two guests at the same time. Selected Asian spa treatments are available ranging from relaxing foot massage up to East Western fusions.

JAYAVARMAN LIFE ON BOARDLife on the Jayavarman is one luxurious experience after another. Allow us to paint – in your mind’s eye – the picture of romance, majesty and mystery that becomes you when you board the Jayavarman.

You step out on to your private balcony, sipping your cocktail made with fruits from the land that envelops you. The sun sets gently and the charming countryside becomes a silhouette shining on the river. You soon realize that you’ve never been in a place so peaceful and so serene, occasionally punctuated by a child’s raucous laughter ringing from a nearby village.

Darkness descends, signaling the time for a traditional feast. Food from the region is served by waiters who, by now, have become your friends. They are a tad shy yet, they are proud to put on display their traditional attire and share their culture with you.

After a night’s sleep, the soft rays of the sun warm your face. Thai Chi lessons await you on the upper sun deck, ready to connect you to the energy that is so plentiful in this cultured and spiritual place.

At every corner, every river bend aboard this luxurious and majestic ship, new sights and new experiences are ready and waiting to be found.

THE JAHANPRODUCT OF A ROMANTIC TALE

Plying the slow, swirling waters of the Mekong, The Jahan is Heritage Line’s most romantic cruise liner. Considered the brother of The Jayavarman in Heritage Line’s “family” of cruise ships, this magnificent vessel was named after the Indian emperor Shah Jahan, who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1628 to 1658. A great patron of architecture and the arts, Shah Jahan oversaw the construction of many legendary sites, including India’s dazzling Red Fort, and the famed 777 gardens of Kashmir. This cultured monarch is a fitting namesake for The Jahan, which evokes the opulent vessels of British India. No expense has been spared in the interior or exterior decorations, which showcase the talents of local woodworkers, weavers and artists.

When guests aren’t relaxing in their luxurious cabins they can meet friends in the atmospheric East India Club; soak in the Jacuzzi on the Pool Deck; challenge a new friend to a game of chess in the Observatory Lounge; or enjoy a pampering massage in the Apsara Spa. With three decks, this vessel offers all the amenities of a fine resort, including a fitness center, steam rooms, a range of dining venues and an excellent spa. Stretching 70 meters from bow to stern, The Jahan features 26 beautifully-designed cabins on two decks, each with its own private balcony.

Discover the bygone elegance of travel aboard the majestic Jahan. Just as Indian art and architecture influenced the Khmer and Cham cultures in the Mekong Delta, the stunning artistry of The Jahan will inspire you, as will the delta’s vibrant beauty.

THE JAHAN LIFE ON BOARDLife aboard the Jahan will read much like a royal tale. As the rays of the morning sun glide across the balcony to your well-appointed room you will be gently rustled from your slumber. It feels like you were taken back to a time when royals slept in whimsical abodes and awoke by the glow of the balmy sun - the mysteries of the day are yet to unfold.

You will hear the pop of a cork and gentle sizzling sound as delectable Prosecco is being prepared to accompany your morning feast. The balcony is the ideal place for your breakfast if you wish for privacy.

With such pleasant interruption to the tranquil surroundings, you are assured that the day – which has only just begun – will be laden with promise. The twists and turns of the Mekong – and the therapeutic cadence of the waves – serve as an inspiration to you. At this stage, you quickly come to the conclusion that you have not experienced anything like this before.

The High Tea, prepared to perfection at afternoon’s, will, once again, bring you back to the days of yore – when men tipped their hats and ladies intermittently covered their visages behind paper fans.
