    First miracle:

    Jesus Turns Water into Wine

-On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.

Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also

    been invited to the wedding.

-Before Jesus began his public ministry, he attended a wedding

in Cana with his mother Mary and some of his disciples. During

the wedding banquet, Jesus performed a miracle that involvedchanging water into wine.

-Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews

for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty

    gallons.

    Walked on the Sea

-In the evening, his disciples went down to the lake, embarked

on the boat and made their way across the lake to Capernaum.

Darkness had already fallen and Jesus had not returned to

them. A strong wind sprang up and the water grew very rough.

When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw

Jesus walking on the water, and coming towards the boat, andthey were terrified. So they gladly took him aboard, and at

once the boat reached the shore they were making for.

    Paralytic healed

Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried totake him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they

could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went

up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into

the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are

    forgiven."

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to

themselves, "Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who

can forgive sins but God alone?"

Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, "Why are you

thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier: to say,

'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? But I want

you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth toforgive sins." So he said to the paralyzed man, "I tell you, get

up, take your mat and go home." Immediately he stood up in

front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home

praising God. Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.

They were filled with awe and said, "We have seen remarkable

    things today."

    The Dead Rose to Life

Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It

was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. "Take

    away the stone," he said.

"But, Lord," said Martha, the sister of the dead man, "by

this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there fourdays."

Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believe,

you will see the glory of God?"

So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and

said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I

knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the

benefit of the people standing here, that they may

    believe that you sent me."

When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice,

"Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his

hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth

    around his face.

Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and lethim go."

    His Transfiguration

In these accounts Jesus and three of hisapostles go to a mountain (the Mount of

    Transfiguration). On the mountain, Jesus

begins to shine with bright rays of light,

the prophets Moses and Elijah appear

next to him and he speaks with them.Jesus is then called "Son" by a voice in

    the sky, assumed

    to be God the Father,

    as in the Baptism ofJesus

    The Multiple Fed

-Jesus left, walked along the shore of the lake

of Galilee, then climbed the hill and sat down.

And great crowds came to him, bringing with

them people who were lame, crippled, blind

and many others. They simply put them downat his feet and he healed them. The result was

that the people were astonished at seeing

dumb men speak, crippled men healed, lame

men walking about and blind men having

recovered their sight. And they praised the

    God of Israel.

-And when he had taken the seven loaves and

the fish into his hands, he broke them with a

prayer of thanksgiving and gave them to the

disciples to pass on to the people.

    His Resurrection

-After Jesus was crucified, he died and

was buried in a tomb. On the third day, he

was resurrected, meaning that God had

    restored Jesus to life.

-After the Romans crucified Jesus, he was

buried in a new tomb but he rose from the

    dead and appeared

    to many people over

    a span of forty days

    before his return to

    heaven (Ascension).

    Purpose of Jesus' miracles

Jesus performs miracles to show that He

was truly the Son of God, and that He was

    God like the Father.

He also did them to show His mercy andHis love for men, especially the needy.

Many times Jesus linked faith to healing,

such as Matthew 10 where he stated "your

faith has healed you". The miracles of

Jesus revealed the need for faith in Him

    for salvation.
