Reimers, CPA Macy Was Told She Was Nothing God Revealed the TRUTH I came into the Women’s Division of the Rescue Mission torn and broken and did not know which step I was going to take next. I had been misled, mistreated, abused and was let down by the ones I thought loved me the most. I was so hurt and thought that this would be the end of me. Slowly I began to build back my strength and get back on my feet at the Mission and was able to be a part of the program through the love and support of the staff and residents. I had a plan already in my mind as I entered the program and they gave me the extra boost I needed to succeed. Within 2 months of entering the Mission I received my high school diploma and am now registered for classes in Nursing at Central Georgia Technical College for the fall.* A lot of people told me that I would not be anything in this life and that I wouldn’t be able to take care of my son, but I have accomplished so much since I have been here and I know there are more blessings to come. I could not have done this without the support of the staff and the residents but most importantly I could not have done this without God. I have been saved and on June 12, 2014 I was baptized at Southside Baptist Church. It is through Jesus Christ that these major moves in my life have been made and I know this is not the end, it’s the beginning. I cannot thank Him for all he has done and is going to do in my life. I love the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia and will always remember them for all the great things they have done for me and my son. *Look inside for more on Macey’s high school graduation ceremony!

I came into the Women’s Division of the Rescue Mission torn and broken and did not know which step I was going to take next. From the Director’s DeskThe theme for this month’s newsletter is “New Beginnings”. When our Development team shared this with me I knew immediately who I wanted to write about…meet Perry. Perry came to the Mission on March 26th and I had the honor of hearing his story and talking with him in detail on that day. I will just say that Perry has lived a rough life and was used to doing things Perry’s way and after talking with him I wasn’t sure he was going to change. The process that we all witnessed over the next few months as we watched Perry surrender and start doing things God’s way was absolutely beautiful.
A couple of weeks ago Perry stopped me and asked if I had seen his picture and proceeded to show me his “before picture” that was taken on March 26th for his I.D. badge when he entered the program. He then showed me his “after picture” that he asked us to take on June 26th so he could get a new I.D. badge. He wanted a new picture that showed the transformation that has taken place in such a short time period. Since a picture is worth 1,000 words, I wanted to share
these pictures. In a matter of 3 months, God has transformed Perry into a new creature, both physically and spiritually, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the gifts and prayers we are blessed with every day. As we do with all of our residents, we have truly come to know and love Perry and are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for him. Board Members Spotlight We are blessed with an incredible Board of Directors who are passionate about the individuals we serve and are working hard to make the Misssion the best it can possibly be. In some of the upcoming newsletters we are going to spotlight some of our board members to give you an idea of just what kind of dyanamic, ambitious, and compassionate people the Mission has in place to lead us into the future. Mr. Thomas W. Glasgow Jr. grew up in Greensburg, PA. After receiving his BA in Business at Michigan State University in 1968, he began working for the M c D o n a l d s C o r p o r a t i o n . His natural grasp of business and leadership qualities allowed him to quickly rise through the ranks where he eventually retired, after a 29 year career, as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. After transferring to Atlanta in 1979, Mr. Glasgow met his wife, Linda, a native of Macon where they now live. They had a daughter, Kelly, who graduated from Stratford Academy and SMU Dallas. Mr. Glasgow currently serves on multiple boards for various corporations and nonprofits and brings a wealth of experience, love, and compassion to the Mission’s board.
Last month, Mr. Glasgow introduced the idea of joining the Mission’s board to one of his peers in his men’s group at Ingleside Baptist Church, Mr. Martin Willingham. Martin revealed to Tom that he had already been deeply involved with the Mission for a few years, moving from helping serve meals into leading regular small group bible studies with the residents. Mr. Willingham was inspired by the many amazing stories he heard and the incredible growth he witnessed at the Mission. He happily accepted the offer from the Board to join. Mr. Willingham is from Lookout M o u n t a i n , Georgia and currently lives in Macon with his wife Missy and his 3 children, Summer, Mac, and Anna. He has both a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Masters in the same from Mercer. He has been employed by such high profile companies as IBM, Filenet, and GE Capital. He currently serves as Senior Migration Architect at Vega ECM Systems. Our newest board member, Martin is a source of fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and passion for the work of the Mission and the lives that it impacts. We’re so thankful to have such Godly and compassionate men as Tom and Martin on our board. We’re very excited about the future of the Mission with their contributions of leadership.

Graduation Celebration
On July 11th, four men and three women were recognized for their courage, hard work, and dedication. Family, friends and community supporters packed the Rescue Mission chapel to offer congratulations and support for our newest graduates: Randall Fountain, Freddie Mathis, Carl Pounds, Ralph Wells, Kasey Williams, K.S., and Sonada Bell. The ceremony was followed by fellowship and dinner in our dining hall. These Changed lives would not have been possible without the support of this community.

process your donations:
- Please bundle shoes together. We can always do something with pairs of shoes, so a rubber band or tying them together ensures that they arrive as a pair.
- Use cardboard when possible. Not only can we process boxes quicker, but we can also recycle that cardboard with the proceeds benefitting the Mission!
- Wrap multiple piece donations together if they go as a set. As you can imagine, being the beneficiary of tremendous generosity comes with its challenges. So, please help us maximize your donations by as-
sisting us in making sure no parts are lost.
- Come browse our store some time. Not only might you get a chance to help those in need while getting a bargain, but you may even get some ideas for other items that can go from your clutter to our
valuable resource!

That they may continue to be examples of Christ’s love to the men and women that they serve.

With summertime fully upon us, things are really starting to heat up, both outside and inside our Bargain Center Warehouse. The guys in our work therapy program work hard, heat or no heat, to change their lives and provide a means of sustainability for the Mission’s programs. We are in need of bottled water to supply to the men to keep them hydrated as they work. Donations can be dropped either at
the Mission or Bargain Center.

For each of us, a new beginning can have so many meanings. It can be a new job, home, adventure or starting a new family. For the residents of the Women’s Division, the meaning of a new beginning has a totally different connotation.
The first “new beginning” these women encounter is a life that is free from abuse. Many of the survivors that come to our shelter have been in multiple abusive relationships with many having been abused as children. This vicious cycle is so difficult to break and many times is repeated by their children. For some women this is the first time in their lives that they have been abuse free. Through our classes “Pattern Changing for Abused Women” these women learn to break this cycle along with the skills needed to never be a victim again.
The second “new beginning” for the women is the feeling of being safe and secure. Once the nightmares/night terrors stop the women can finally get a good night’s rest. With the security of surveillance cameras and locked doors the women start to feel safe and secure, knowing they are protected.
The final “new beginning” for these women is that they know God truly loves them. He has placed each and every survivor here through his perfect design. He knows their deepest scars and wants to heal them. Only He can offer the comfort and security they need. He is the only way for these women to fully heal and become whole again.
Please continue to pray for those God sends our way. He is mighty and able to drastically change lives.

New BeginningsWe are so proud of Macy who recently graduated high school; she wasn’t satisfied with just receiving her GED, she wanted a real high school diploma. It was through the Mission and her renewed ambition to succeed that she was able to walk across the stage on Saturday and receive her diploma, something she once thought impossible. Macy’s ambition didn’t stop there; we are happy to announce that she is now officially registered as a freshman in the Nursing Program at Central Georgia Technical College. Macy has always been and continues to be a strong, smart and motivated woman that has captured the hearts of everyone here at the Mission.
