The Mission Bell has been a work-in-progress since I started it in May 2013. I’ve been working toward:

Introducing the Core Charities supported financially and prayerfully by the parish

Building relationships with the representatives of these organisations

Introducing individual missionaries that are from the parish

Deciding how frequently it should be produced. I appreciate so much the input of Robin, people on the giving committee and members from each congregation who have given me encouragement and feedback. I feel as though the foundations are now firmly established and settled. After realising the time-intensive project this is, I have determined that producing it on a quarterly basis is best. There is a lot of information in this booklet.

My purpose in producing this magazine has been to: Educate—by bringing awareness of the Kingdom work of the many charities our parish

support Encourage—by letting everyone who reads The Mission Bell know what their prayers

and finances are accomplishing. Engage—by providing specific information about projects/programmes/people in

order to pray with better understanding. Instigate—by providing website information, the people who read it will do their own

research and learn about the organisations. The challenge I face with producing this magazine is obtaining information. Some or-ganizations have very little available to provide me with specific and targeted prayers. Corrymeela and Outlook Trust are two of these. What is posted on their website is lim-ited and unchanging. On the other hand, some websites have so much, I have to click on page after page to pick one programme, project or a country to focus on for that particular magazine issue. Prayer, listening to the Holy Spirit, and sharing ideas with others is how I eventually collect and present the information. Thank you all for your encouragement and prayers.

Serving Jesus, Author of our faith,

resources and volunteers to help at the Springboard Learning Centre which provides training in literacy, money management, numeracy, communication skills, health management and other topic. Slough Food Bank Volunteers: Give

Pray that all who are facing hardship or persecution, in Myanmar and around the world, might know God’s peace and be a witness to those around them. Brazil: Pray for churches in Brazil as they work together to raise awareness of the Zika virus. Us-supported project co-ordinator Ruth de Barros, in the Amazon, said: ‘Some slums in this region have some of the worst sanitation conditions in the whole of Brazil, so we will be including this important topic in our training programmes this year.’ Japan: Pray for health for citizens in north-east Japan, close to the Fukushima power station, which was damaged in the 2011 tsunami. Give thanks for the work of the Anglican Church in Japan as it supports those communities most affected by the tsunami and the nuclear accident

Eastern Africa

Eva Nyamogo: Pray for Eva’s work as a Community Mobiliser in Kitale, Kenya, where she provides training and information in her local community to improve access to water and sanitation.

Solar-powered water pumps: Pray for more financial resources to purchase and install the pumps in drought affected areas of Kenya. Working with community members, Practical Action developed a solar powered water pump that can pump up to 30,000 litres of clean water per day. Using the overabundance of sunshine, the solar pump draws water from a 100-metre-deep well, providing families with the water that they desperately need and rendering cases of water-related diseases a thing of the past.

Serving Persecuted Christians Worldwide

Prayer Points: Nigeria—Rev. Samuel Dali, President of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, has said, "We want the Church worldwide to recognise that this is not just our problem. It is the problem of the whole body of Christ... Dozens of our churches have already been completely razed down and many pastors killed while others have fled along with their members. If the situation does not stop, there is a real danger of eliminating churches in north-eastern Nigeria." Please pray:

Thank God for the presence of the church in northern Nigeria, and pray that God will build his church

Ask God to grant Christians the grace to continue living out clear testimonies for Him despite the challenges they face

Pray that Christians will continue to look to God as their provider and that God will graciously tend to the needs of His children

Pray that Christians will remains steadfast in their faith.

Despite the pressures and constant attacks, many congregations have remained involved in Muslim evangelism, leading to a steady flow of Muslims coming to Christ. However, it remains very difficult for churches to openly integrate new converts from Islam because it attracts the attention of the Islamic community, resulting in targeting.
