The Mississippi Judicial College takes great pleasure in inviting each of youto the Mississippi Trial & Appellate Judges Fall Conference to be held on October25-27, 2017, at the Jackson Marriott in Jackson, Mississippi. As part of ourservice to the people of Mississippi, MJC provides continuing education to judgesand other court officials in our judicial system. We are pleased to have theopportunity to work with you on this and other continuing education endeavors.

Hopefully, you will find the conference rewarding as well as educationallystimulating and beneficial to your needs. MJC trusts your visit to Jackson will beboth an educational and an enjoyable one.

FALL CONFERENCE INFORMATION

Conference RegistrationTo register, please complete the registration form in this brochure, and thenreturn to MJC by October 15, 2017. The registration form can be sentelectronically or faxed to 662-915-7845. If you are planning to attend, pleaseregister so that we can better plan for the conference. The registrationinformation can also be found on the MJC website at http://mjc.olemiss.edu/.

Hotel RegistrationThe Jackson Marriott will serve as our host hotel for this conference. Tomake your overnight reservations, follow the instructions on the MakingYour Reservation page of this brochure. Reservations must be made directlyby you with the Jackson Marriott, and your room must be guaranteed with acredit card to confirm your reservations.

Judicial EducationThe fall conference will provide 12 hours of continuing judicial education. Please refer to the conference agenda for function and session times.

Conference FunctionsJudges will have general sessions on the afternoon of Wednesday, October25 , general and breakout sessions on Thursday, October 26 , and theth th

conference will conclude by noon following the study committee meetingson Friday, October 27 . Continental breakfast and lunch will be served onth

Thursday, and a full breakfast buffet on Friday morning.

Travel & Meal ReimbursementAppellate, Chancery, and Circuit Judges will use their travel allowance tocover their overnight and travel expenses for the conference. County andSenior Status Judges, who are subject to MJC’s reimbursement policy, willbe reimbursed by the Mississippi Judicial College for travel, overnightaccommodations, and applicable meals.

MAKING YOUR RESERVATIONS

This year’s fall conference will be held at the Jackson Marriott in Jackson,Mississippi. Reservations for the conference can be made by calling 1-800-256-9194 or 601-969-5100. Inform reservations that you will be attending thejudge’s conference and that your reservation should be made in the MS Trial& Appellate Judges room block. Alternatively, reservations can be madeonline at: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel.janmc-jackson-marriott/ Enter the code MTA or MS Trial Appellate Judges along with the otherrequired information. The single or double room rate for the conference is$89.

The deadline for making reservations with the Jackson Marriott in the MJC room block is October 15, 2017.

The Jackson Marriott has reserved a limited block of rooms for the nights ofWednesday, October 25 and Thursday, October 26 . Any reservation requeststh th

made prior to and after these dates are subject to availability and the regularhotel rates.

The Jackson Marriott will be instructed to direct bill the room rate for countyand senior status judges for the nights of Wednesday, October 25 andth

Thursday, October 26 . All reservations must be made, however, directly withth

the Jackson Marriott and must be guaranteed by a credit card when you contactthe hotel. Please be sure to write down your confirmation number. Shouldcancellation of individual reservations become necessary, the Jackson Marriottrequires seventy-two (72) hours notice prior to the scheduled check-in time.
