Measuring only 3t/e" x 11s/.ra" (82mm x 49mm)the Barnes & Jones unit weighs just 4.5 oz (125 grams) compared with conventional traps weighing 2 to 4 pounds (1 Io 2 kilograms). The unique and versatile steam trap uses a patented design that incorporates a stainless- steel housing of low mass to permit the very rapid thermostatic response critical to optimum trap operation. The low-cost units are readily used with a wide variety of equipment by virtue of standard NPT fittings. The Barnes & Jones Compact Steam Trap is calibrated to actuate within 5"F (3'C) of saturated steam temperature in bellows activated units and 12"F (7"C) of saturated steam temperature in diaphragm activated units. Three different actuators provide a range of operating pressures. Diaphram actuator for 0-80 psig (0-6 bar); Bronze bellows for 0-80 psig (0-6 bafl; and Monel bellows for 0-150 psig (0-10 bar) range. Four standard NPT stainless-steel end fittings (from r/e" lo 1/2") allow users to specify any of twelve (12) standard models. For unique OEM applications, Barnes & Jones will provide custom end fittings. Used in one position, the Barnes & Jones device operates as a fast-acting steam trap to evacuate condensate from steam cookers, sterilizers, etc. Mounted with the exit port in an upright position, it functions to quickly vent air and retain steam. ln either configuration, Barnes & Jones offers a compact trap that can be cleaned and changed by in-house staff rather than by costly service personnel. All units are calibrated under operating (steam) conditions to provide a trap ensuring accu rate, consistently reproducible actuation at a pre-determined temperatu re. - Patented
