The National Broadband Network
What is the NBN?• The NBN is short for the National Broadband
Network, a plan by the Australian Government to give everyone faster internet.
• The Network uses optic fibre cabling and high speed wireless to deliver faster internet speed than ever before.
When will it be coming to me?• The NBN website says that the NBN will be coming
to my place, but it doesn’t say when.
My place
Optic Fibre cabling• Optic fibre cable is a cable which contains one or
more optic fibres. These cables allow super fast broadband and internet speed.
Problems with the NBN• One of the main problems with the rollout of the
NBN has been that the underground boxes they connect into were made a while ago out of asbestos. Since this is poisonous, and many of the boxes have been broken since then, special teams have had to come in and remove the boxes and replace them with new ones.
My internet speed• Download speed: 0.09 Mbps• Upload speed: 0.05 Mbps
