Chiefs have home games at Waikato stadium that brings thousands of fans together to watch. Being a fan creates a sense of identity and belonging, which is demonstrated throughout the game, by chanting, waving flags and wearing the team strips, this extends into the city pre and post matches, where fans get together in social groups. The collective efficacy of the fans is to support the team. 3. The River: The Waikato River runs through the city center and is a focal point of the community. The river is used by many people for many different activities. These include people walking, running, cycling, boating, fishing, and other recreational activities. The River creates a sense of community by bringing people together for communal enjoyment of nature. It has a rich history within Hamilton, it was once used to keep food and provide food through boat transport. 4.
