There are many good reasons to use video to influence people, and one of them is a system in the brain called the Facial Recognition System.

For years now, neuroscientists have understood that certain areas of the brain give us the ability to recognize faces, and with advances in technology, they’ve been able to pin point more precisely where this system is.

Why is this important for influence?Because research has shown that these areas ONLY light up for the recognition of faces – and faces can be featured on video, talking to the people you want to influence.

Why is this important for influence?

Activating this system is automatic. The person viewing the video can’t consciously ‘turn off’ this part of the brain when they see your face.

OK, so why is THIS important for influence?

Because research has also shown that facial ‘cues’ are more persuasive than ‘vocal’ cues and ‘words’.

Quite simply, when people see a face, their brain creates ‘feelings’ and makes all sorts of rapid, non-conscious ‘decisions’ that have nothing to do with how your voice sounds or the words you are saying.
