11 30 hours 40+ hours

12 30 hours 40+ hours

http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(b0d3foet0zmkuvfw3z44ndor))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=

mcl-380-1279g

“A school district or public school academy that operates a high school shall include on each pupil’s high

school transcript the following:

(b) The number of school days the pupil was in attendance at school each school year during high school and

the total number of school days in session for each of those school year.”

ACT/SAT scores

- All public schools require the testing information from the MME to be included on the transcript

including the SAT scores taken as part of the MME. Other test scores from other SAT/ACT sessions

may be included on the transcript.

- WC will include composite test scores on the transcript

Should students still send ACT/SAT scores through the testing agency?

YES!!! Many colleges will ONLY accept test scores that come directly from the testing agency. It is the

student’s responsibility to send test scores through ACT or SAT to all colleges that they are applying to.

Unweighted and Weighted GPAs

Both the weighted and unweighted GPA will be included on the transcript as some colleges and military

academies require the unweighted GPA.

Class Rank

- Class rank will no longer be included on the transcript.

- WC will continue to honor Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Top Ten at Graduation.

- If a student needs a transcript with rank included for scholarship purposes this can be provided

(example - some colleges will give away scholarships to the Valedictorian)

Reasons for removing class rank

- Studies from College Board and NACAC- More than half of all high schools no longer report student rankings

- Most small, private, and competitive high schools have done away with rank because they feel it penalizes many

excellent students who are squeezed out of the top ten percent of the class and then overlooked by elite

colleges

- From “Admission Decisions: What Counts, Help Your Students Understand What Really Matters to Colleges” - a

student’s grades in college-preparatory classes remain the most significant factor in college admission decisions

- US News & World Report “Academic Insights - Decline of High School Class Rank” - in 1993, 42% of colleges said

class rank was of considerable importance during the admissions decision. By 2011, only 19% gave the same

response.

- Reduces academic pressure for students.
