The newsletter for Wallabadah Public School and its community Excellence in LearningWeek 3 Term 1 15 February 2019 Welcome to Week 3! As we finish the end of the third week of term one, we can reflect on how busy we have been, the routines we have put into place and the wonderful learning that is happening in our classrooms. The Primary classroom enjoyed exploring the texture, and feel of carrot seeds in our unit Living World. The students used magnifying glasses to examine the seeds, and write a descriptive article. They have discussed the life cycle of various plants and constructed detailed descriptions of the stages of the cycle. What great fun we have in Science. During our Literacy sessions, writing and constructing different texts has been a focus. This week the Primary have created Autobiographies about themselves and also written imaginative stories about ants. In the Infants classroom, the students have been focusing on informative texts and they have explored a wonderful picture book Baby Elephantby Susan Hellard. They have discussed the animal, looked at the habitat and breeding habits of the elephant and explored some interesting facts. In Mathematics, the Kindergarten boys have been focusing on Ordinal numbers and this has been fantastic on the back of the swimming carnival. The stage one children have worked on their addition skills and doubles and near doubles. Great to see every student working hard and with a giant smile on their face whilst doing it, well done! Quirindi Pool: Mr Worley, Principal, Quirindi High School has worked collaboratively with the Liverpool Plains Shire Council to secure a plan for the use of the Quirindi and Werris Creek Pools for the remainder of the 2019 year. This agreement allows all school students from Wallabadah free access to the pool. This will include carnivals, intensive swimming school programs, weekend free time and after school use. Your child will receive an Identity Card. This card will be plastic and will include your childs name and their school. These will be distributed shortly. If you have any questions about the initiative, please dont hesitate to ask. This is a wonderful initiative and we would like to thank Mr Worley for his dedication to the children of the partnering schools. Have a lovely week! “Excellence in Learning” Week 3 Term 1 15 February 2019

Welcome to Week 3!

As we finish the end of the third week of term one, we can reflect on how busy we have been,

the routines we have put into place and the wonderful learning that is happening in our

classrooms. The Primary classroom enjoyed exploring the texture, and feel of carrot seeds in

our unit Living World. The students used magnifying glasses to examine the seeds, and write a

descriptive article. They have discussed the life cycle of various plants and constructed detailed

descriptions of the stages of the cycle. What great fun we have in Science. During our Literacy

sessions, writing and constructing different texts has been a focus. This week the Primary have

created Autobiographies about themselves and also written imaginative stories about ants.

In the Infants classroom, the students have been focusing on informative texts and they have

explored a wonderful picture book ‘Baby Elephant’ by Susan Hellard. They have discussed the

animal, looked at the habitat and breeding habits of the elephant and explored some

interesting facts. In Mathematics, the Kindergarten boys have been focusing on Ordinal

numbers and this has been fantastic on the back of the swimming carnival. The stage one

children have worked on their addition skills and doubles and near doubles. Great to see every

student working hard and with a giant smile on their face whilst doing it, well done!

Quirindi Pool: Mr Worley, Principal, Quirindi High School has worked collaboratively with the

Liverpool Plains Shire Council to secure a plan for the use of the Quirindi and Werris Creek

Pools for the remainder of the 2019 year. This agreement allows all school students from

Wallabadah free access to the pool. This will include carnivals, intensive swimming school

programs, weekend free time and after school use. Your child will receive an Identity Card.

This card will be plastic and will include your child’s name and their school. These will be

distributed shortly. If you have any questions about the initiative, please don’t hesitate to ask.

This is a wonderful initiative and we would like to thank Mr Worley for his dedication to the

children of the partnering schools.

Have a lovely week!

Creek Swimming pool today. We wish you all the best of luck

and know you will compete with passion and pride.

Have fun and good luck!

Well done to all the students who were able to make it along

to swimming training with Mrs Saunders.

How fantastic do the 3-6 ‘Scream’ Artworks

look in the Primary Classroom?

The students completed this task with Mrs

Cudmore to accompany their Autobiographies.

They have certainly brightened our classroom

up!

work by Trey that

also relates to the
