4:00 – 5:15PMA Timeline: The Stuttering ExperienceLed by Geoffry, Chani, Marvin, & Chaya Our final workshop of the day will include a review of our stories of stuttering throughout our lives and a discussion of how we can guide ourselves to a future of more proud, joyful speaking. This workshop will conclude with an open microphone for attendees to share their reflections on the day and more.

10:00 – 11:15AMThe Stuttering Moment Led by Chris, Spring, Rivky & EmmaEmbracing the fact that all people who stutter have different thoughts and goals related to the way they talk, we will pose some questions to the crowd. How does it feel to look a stranger in the eye while stuttering? What happens in your body when someone looks away while you are stuttering? Can we enjoy the way we talk? Is it possible to stutter without apology or shame?

2:00 – 3:15PMStuttering in a Fluent WorldLed by Jean, George, & RóisínThis workshop will explore the ways that public and personal perception of stuttering affects our lives. How are we portrayed in the media? What is our family’s response to our stutter? What impact does stuttering have on our ability to thrive in the workplace? These questions will lead into a discussion of strategies and techniques that may help us make our way as stutterers in a fluent world.

11:30 – 1:00PMThe Stuttering Community Through the YearsLed by Michael SugarmanA longtime stuttering self-help activist, Michael has been honored by American Speech and Hearing Association, International Fluency Association, National Stuttering Association, International Stuttering Association and Stutterers Hall of Fame. He wrote “Peer Counseling and Self Help Group Facilitation for People who Stutter,” “Self Help Workbook for People who Stutter” and various articles on change theory and peer counseling.
