The The Univ er si ty of the Phil ippi ne s Centenni al News le er Vol. 2 No. 3 Se pt ember 2008  “Two Kwentong 2 Our University: OBLATION Pamantasang Hirang, p. 6 Parangal Sentenyal  T he University of the Philippines Alumni  Association held its Centennial Grand  Alumni & Faculty Homecoming and Reunion at the Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City on June 21, 2008.  At the reunion were members of the UP UP celebrated its centennial by, among others, putting up a show that best encapsulated both its heritage and legacy, its past and future.  The concert brought together the many opposing facets that dene the UP personality, Concert encapsulates UP heritage & legacy juxtaposing the lofty ideals of the Oblation and the street smarts of Isko, and the grit of the First Quarter Storm (FQS). It brought together the follies and the triumphs, the academic breakthroughs and the social changes, and the  T he UP College of Fine Ar ts (UP CFA) has been launching, since January 2008, a Centennial series of collaborative exhibition s and art activities with major art institutions in the country to pay tribute to its most outstanding artists, alumni, faculty, and students. Forming Lineage: The National Artists in the Visual Arts of UP opened on June 11, 2008 National Artists in the Visua l Arts of UP honored in F orming Line age of Mento rs exhibition at National Museum as the agship exhibition of CFA in their centennial year, featuring the nine national artists produced by the UPCFA.  The exhibition, jointly curated by Prof. Ruben D.F . Defeo, director of the UP Ofce for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA), and professor of the UPCFA; and Dr. Patrick Flores, director of the National Gallery of the Forming Lineage author Prof. Ruben Defeo (left) and exhibition organizer CFA Dean Tina Colayco (second  from left) during the exhibition opening with UP Chancellor Sergio S.
