ARTICLE FROM PARADE

DIXIE DOG: WEST VIRGINIA

The South has more than its fair share of unique wieners, from the

hacked-up scrambled dog of central Georgia to the upside-down shaved dog {condiments

down below hold the sauerkraut} of Mobile Dew Drop Inn. At Atlanta’s Varsity, the worlds

largest drive-in, a hot dog automatically comes with chili unless you specifically call for a

“naked dog” . If you only want a yellow

streak of mustard Ask for a YANKEE DOG.

The traditional DIXIE DOG sports creamy cool

coleslaw as well as a savory meat sauce, the combo

supposedly first served in Huntington WV.

Good morning to you: I just wanted to say thank you for your kind reply, any information that you might find would be a great help. This was a very small company lost in service because they where just irregular Vol. assigned to all that needed a Cav. Company . I think they were part of Milroys Brigade, in his Independent companies group. Major Hardiee

If anyone has past secretary minutes of the WVRA please turn them in to one of the WVRA

officers. Especially old Secretary notes. These minutes should be passed on from past

secretary to the new secretary every year. Thanks a Million

Well Chuck beat me to it, but I was going to recommend you all vote for Chuck! I will be happy to continue to get the mail from the post office. My issue is, that I understand the account is at Huntington Bank. Buckhannon has no Huntington branch. In 2011 VOTE CHUCK! Thank you, Michael

Please pay your dues. It is extremely important to pay your dues on time. BY MARCH. They are

what keeps the WVRA established and the Dispatch running. So please pay your dues.

Remember Recruit.

Let me mention a word about the WVRA nominations. Mike Phillips and I are both nominated for Treasurer. So let me put in a good word for my opponent. It has more to do with logistics than anything. With the PO Box in Buckhannon and Mike living in the Buckhannon area, and with me living part time in Clarksburg and part time in Pennsylvania, he is better suited to conduct the treasurers business than I. Many of you might not be familiar with Mike, but he is a good man. Chuck Critchfield

Speak out against a Walmart on Hallowed Ground We need your help TODAY to turn the tide in our favor in the fight against Walmart to save our hallowed Civil War battleground. Sign our petition to US Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner NOW urging them to ask Walmart to relocate away from historic Wilderness Battlefield. Time is running out. We have been fighting for years to protect the hallowed ground of Wilder-ness, but with a court trial to decide major issues in the case starting on January 25th – just 7 days from today – we are at a critical juncture. United States Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner are champions of his-toric preservation and their leadership in support of Wilderness Battlefield could make the difference in finding a win-win solution. Construction of a Walmart store, within the boundaries of Wilderness Battlefield and just across the road from Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park in Orange County, Virginia, would irrevocably harm the battlefield, degrade the visitors experience of the National Park, and open the flood gates for large-scale commercial development. Please sign our petition to Senators Webb and Warner TODAY as we urge them to ask Walmart to relocate its Superstore to an alternative site away from the battlefield – one that still meets their business needs butt is more respectful of our Civil War history. With your help, we can win the fight to save an important part of America’s heritage.Thank you for your support. © 2010 National Trust for Historic Preservation, 1785 Massachusetts Ave.

Tonya, I am sorry I haven't got back with you sooner. A lot has happened to me over the last month. I must tell you and you may share with the rest of the members that I have been diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer. I have been back and forth with the an Oncologist at UHC and Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic. I have a tumor at my esophagus and stomach junction, the tumor has spread in my lymph nodes. I will start chemotherapy tomorrow at UHC. I will be admitted to UHC for five straight days of chemo and every twenty-one days the process has to be repeated for a total of 6 treatments. Right now surgery is not an option. If they can't get it out of my lymph node system my prognosis is not good they say maybe a year or two. With all this going on in my life I can't be Sec-retary, I don't know how I will be feeling. But, Tonya I love reenacting and my reenactors friends I will try to attend some events this year. Reenacting makes me happy and I need all the happy mo-ments I can get in my life right now. Take Care…... John ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John I am so sorry, our love, hopes, prayers and happy thoughts are with You, Tina and your fam-ily. We just went through this with Jacks mother, hers was an extremely rare cancer but things are looking good and so far she is doing great we wish the same for you. Please let us know if you need anything. Your friends in the Civil War . Jack and Tonya Daft To Send cards, email, or call John and Tina to show your support information is in
