THE OLD BAKERYMILTON ABBAS, BLANDFORD FORUM, DORSET
The Old BakeryThe Old Bakery is a surprisingly spacious beautifully
presented Grade II listed cottage in one of the prettiest
villages in Dorset. It forms part of the famous Milton Abbas
Street which was designed for Lord Milton, the Earl of
Dorchester in 1780 by the architect Sir William Chambers and
the landscape gardener Capability Brown. The property has
recently been sympathetically renovated to a high standard
to create generous living spaces and light airy rooms. Many
of their period features such as the bread oven, original
fireplaces and beamed ceilings have been retained.
The front door opens to the oak floored entrance hall, with a
door on either side to the study/bedroom 4 and snug, both
with woodburning stoves. A door leads through to an inner
hall with doors off to the cloakroom and large boot room
with tasteful fitted cupboards and a surprising amount of
storage. Beyond is the large living/dining room, which has an
oak floor, beamed ceiling and fireplace fitted with a wood-
burning stove. Leading on from the inner hall is the kitchen/
breakfast room, which is fitted with beautiful bespoke units
under polished granite work surfaces. It is well-lit by a large
floor to ceiling window and door opening onto a courtyard.
A door at the rear of the kitchen leads through to the utility
room and garden. On the first floor at the rear of the cottage
is the master bedroom suite, 2 large walk-in cupboards and
beautifully fitted bathroom with double basins and a separate
bath and shower. At the front and accessed from a central
landing are two further double bedrooms and bathrooms.
The property benefits from oil-fired central and underfloor
heating.
