•  “We believe premium pay for certifications will not go any lower …”

•  “Vendor independent organizations such as

Fifty percent of enterprise architecture (EA) practitioners have a significant impact on enterprise IT budget activities and decisions, according to a recent survey by Gartner, Inc. A July 2012 Gartner survey of EA practitioners found that half of EA practitioners have an influence over their organization's IT budget allocation that is either "final decision maker" or "great deal of influence."

"Enterprise architecture consulting services are very mature, and enterprise architectures, once completed, tend to remain fairly stable over time. However, with the advent of enabling technologies such as cloud services, mobility, analytics including big data, and social media, enterprise architecture has regained prominence. Enterprises realize they must update or recreate their technical architectures to extract the maximum business value from these enabling technologies." — Gard Little, research director, IT Consulting and System Integration Research

•  In the USA DODAF, FEA, FSAM are elected Government frameworks but are hardly recognised outside the USA

•  The Gartner Framework represents a minority offering and again is not prevalent outside the USA.

•  The Zachman Framework is well known, but has little traction in Governments within Europe, Australasia or the USA.

•  The only EA framework which has broad geographic uptake both in Government

and in Corporates is TOGAF® 9.

•  Multi-disciplinary care team •  Mobile Knowledge workers •  Knowledge Workers: but they don’t work in a

Learning Organization

•  Evidence Based Practice •  Governance around non-clinical matters •  Inadequate Information Technology -> it just

doesn’t support the natural way the work is done

•  Overall enterprise culture is not supportive of total quality

Real Problem The real problem with communication is a lot more complex

Copyright © The Open Group 2013

•  . . . Reduce avoidable errors caused by poor communication: e.g. not knowing the discharge date and time, not knowing that the patient doesn’t speak English and call his daughter to translate

•  . . . Lessen time spent looking for the correct contact information

•  . . . Reduce ER Consult time

•  . . . Lessen Readmission Rates

•  . . . For Patient-Centered Medical Homes: Lessen admission rate for chronically ill patients

•  . . . Reduce Length of Stay

Research Findings Value of Improved Communication
