The recent recipient of the Teacher of the Year award of our school, is 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Fran Green. She is a great example of an excel-lent teacher. She’s definitely the definition of experienced, with over 27 years of teaching skill and a fam-ily full of teachers. She’s been in-volved in the arts since a very young age. She incorporates art in her classroom in all kinds of ways, such

as teaching her students about famous artists like Leonardo Da Vinci. Her inspiration was Walt Disney because they both love having fun. Ms. Fran Green has traveled to all the corners of the world and has been exposed to many of the masterpieces that this world has to offer in museums. To her, art is an appreciation of the many different things around you. Her students definitely show love of her and her teaching. Emma in her class says, “I love how she dressed up as the character Ms. Viola Swamp after reading the book.” In keeping with creativity and the love of art, Ms. Green’s class designed fish tanks for the television show Tanked, just in case the cast needed it. She loves teach-ing scary, but fun art to her students. Her message to students is that “learning can be so much fun.” Ms. Green feels very honored to win the Teacher of the

Year award.

Poverty

Gazillion sacks of skin and bones fill the street

Working for a penny a day in the heat How does this injustice survive?

Children are just lucky enough to be alive Several families share one hut

So why is it that we keep our eyes shut? Ignorance is not an excuse like before

We cannot veil our eyes anymore This world of anguish is real

And it needs help to heal One day the earth will cry red

Like a machete smashing through its head

Jesus Christ died for our sins So why does the government murder with

a grin? Poverty is not a coincidence It’s a decision of incidence

So little money cartels and prostitution become salvations

It’s rare for girls not to fall for those temp-tations

Too little to ride

Yet those malignant men decide to turn blind

Will you stand by the wicked and claim you’re humane?

Closing your eyes won’t heal the pain Times claims China’s second is destined

to die

Thrown away in a garbage bin Do you still believe I’d lie?

Take your blinders off and acknowledge reality

We can no longer coexists with this dogmatic mentality

In all places poverty has the same face

Recognize the symptoms and don’t let society keep your

thoughts encased

Never Fret, I Shall Get You A Pet!

My son, are you sad?

Are you lonely?

Don’t be mad!

I shall get you a pony!

Never fret,

I will get you a pet!

You don’t want a pony?

How about something from a Dr. Seuss tale?

Well if you don’t want a pony, let’s eat some

macaroni!

Never wail,

Never fret,

I WILL get you a pet!

Tell me boy, tell me.

What kind of pet would you like?

Not sure yet, let us have some tea!

You can think as we take a nice hike!

Never fret,

I SHALL get you a pet!

Take your laptop and show me what you want.

You can show me pictures and whatnot.

But first you should write to your dearest aunt!

I am sure she is fine on her Yacht!

ME?!

Stalling?!

What is this nonsense you speak?

Never fret boy, never fret!

I shall and I will get you a pet.

What is this, a dog?

It will raise its leg in salute to all you own,

It will eat like a hog!

It won’t be happy with only a bone.

Never fret,

I will get you a pet.

Jesus Christ, what is that, a frog?

Oh no, that will make your mother FREAK!

Choose something that doesn’t come from a

bog.

Choose something that’s more unique.

My son, you are water torture to my ear,

A beat that never stops,

Nag, nag, nag, that’s all I ever hear

Now you want something that hops?

Fretting Fred, never fret,

Now you want a parrot?

A calculator is a very reliable tool; you can

count on it

Why not something a little cheaper like a

ferret.

You can use that calculator to count my

credit!

When I have a million dollars, I will get you a

parrot.

Hold on, I must take this call.

It is too important to ignore.

Maybe after, we can play football.

Or buy candy at the store.
