I Am the Living Bread that Came Down from Heaven

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.

- From today’s Holy Gospel, John 6:51-58

Sacramental Life Baptism To have a child baptized, parents must register and attend a class as a couple. Try to attend before your child is born. At least one parent and godparent must be practicing Catholics. Please call or email the church office for information or to register.

Confession The priest is available for Penance at St. Bernadette on Saturdays at 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM, and on Thursdays at 5:30 PM. Confessions are offered Sundays at St. Mary Bremen at 8:00 AM. Every Catholic priest is available whenever needed.

Anointing and Care of the Sick The priest gives the Anointing of the Sick to one who is dangerously ill, facing major surgery, or suffering from the ravages of old age. Call the parish office to inform us if a loved one is in need of pastoral care in sickness, particularly with an extended absence from attending Mass.

Holy Matrimony Couples wishing to marry should contact the parish office six months before a wedding. Why so long? Because this Sacrament, not just the ceremony, requires serious preparation. And the Church needs to be involved in that preparation. The Church needs to support couples through the years of married life and offers programs to enhance married life. To learn about these programs, watch the bulletin. Eucharistic Adoration Eucharistic Adoration takes place each Wednesday at St. Bernadette with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 9:00 AM and Benediction and Reposition at 2:00 PM. Exposition also takes place each Thursday at St. Bernadette from 7:00 PM until MIDNIGHT. On the first Thursday of the month we offer a Eucharistic Holy Hour at St. Mary in Bremen after the morning Mass. All are welcome to come as you are able, or stop in for prayer anytime.

Collar Corner

Today is Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Eucharist. God has taken on human flesh in the person of Christ, remaining with us in the Holy Eucharist for all time. Please, if you can, head to our deanery celebration today at St. Mary in Lancaster. Details are below.

Friday is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. If you are able to make it to Mass that day, please do! If not, stop in for some personal prayer in the church. Anyone interested in the home Enthronement to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts can find details at www.welcomehisheart.com. Dan and Sharon Boyden are the local coordinators and will be happy to help. The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart; we’ll be providing more details about it next week.

Considering the great response and attendance from the Latin Masses especially since the return to public worship, Thursday evening Masses will continue to be offered in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. If you have not participated in these beautiful liturgies make sure to give it a try. Translations are provided.

Last week’s Ordinations for our diocese to the Diaconate and Priesthood were glorious events. Solemn Masses of Thanksgiving for the newly ordained are days for the whole Church to rejoice, recommitting ourselves to prayer for holy vocations. While we always like to see new priests, we need more seminarians to fill the empty rooms left behind!

Any high school student discerning the Priesthood should plan to attend the Quo Vadis days, July 26-29. The parish will cover the cost of this program for you. Just give us a call if you are interested.

Registered, active parishioners who have requested a subsidy grant for any of our Catholic schools for the coming school year will be receiving an application. If you were expecting one and did not receive it, please contact us.

In Our Lord and Our Lady,

Father Tomson

Corpus Christi Celebration Our annual deanery celebration of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi will be held at St. Mary Church in Lancaster today. Exposition begins after the 11:15 AM Mass and continues until 3:00 PM, concluding with Solemn Evening Prayer and Benediction.
