The Pelican From the Principal’s Desk
Focused and Ready To Learn
At Cunnamulla P-12 State School we aim to establish and
maintain a positive, supportive and disciplined school
environment by building and working together to strengthen
interpersonal relationships between members of the school
community. We are committed to
implementing and honouring the Positive Behaviour for
Learning (PBL) framework that has been in operation within
the school for 7 years.
Cunnamulla P-12 State School’s approach to developing responsible behaviour is
focused on relationships and takes place in a caring supportive environment
where all members feel safe and welcome. We believe it is
paramount to have the involvement of the community and parents in order to
successfully develop a responsible and socially acceptable environment.
Parents and staff have a joint responsibility to encourage and teach students
accountable for their behaviour which in turn will promote the wellbeing and
quality of life for the wider community. We are all responsible for our actions and
behaviour.
Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students
As a school staff we welcome all parents/carers and community members to be
part of our school. We regularly hear both positive and negative feedback and
continually encourage everyone to share their thoughts or concerns.
If you would like to see what we do during a school day we extend an invitation to
ALL members of our community to visit. We have dedicated staff who are happy to
share how they support the children that attend Cunnamulla P-12 State School.

When does it rain in Cunnamulla? Only when there is a carnival on! However, on this cold and
gloomy day, not even the cold weather could keep the ambitious swimmers away. The thought
of having to have a jumper on hand in February was a crazy thought but completely needed.
While the weather was gloomy, the faces around the pool were full of smiles.
Overall, the swimming carnival was a success with Warrego taking the trophy.
Congratulations needs to be given to all of the students that received age champion.
Congratulations to those that have competed in Districts and have made it to Regionals in
Charleville on February 23.

The last two weeks have seen the students participating in Tuck-a-Time creating
some excellent cooking in our new kitchen.
In Week 3, the students created a group quiche with a few different ingredients
that they hadn’t used in combination before – red onions, cherry tomatoes, carrot
and ham. Thank you to Chappy Lynn for all your help for this lesson and for
encouraging the students to improve their own cooking
techniques.
In Week 4, the students created Pork Adobo with side dishes of Garden Salad and
Rice. The students enjoyed the challenge of cooking rice in a saucepan and the
different flavours of the pork dish that many had not tasted before. We also
attempted to “present” today’s dish before eating, to maximise the appeal of our
cooking. Thank you to Kathalyn, Casey, Nass and Julie for their wonderful help in
the kitchen this week.
It is really exciting to see the students’ cooking skills and cooking confidence
improving. Over the next few weeks we have a Dietitian, Psychologist and some
Shopping Tours planned to finish off an excellent Term in Tuck-a-Time.
Complete the colouring and return to Miss Brandley for a chance to win a prize!
