THE PITCH

Name of magazine

• I’ve decided that the name of my magazine will be M-Code aka Music Code. I might as well hav called it Music code instead of shortning it, but by doing that it makes it sound ’fancy’ and more exclusive, giving it an overall cooler look.

Magazine name fontsFor the font I want it to be quite simple and easy to recognize. I also don’t want it to take away to much of the attention of the rest of the cover, but rather mould well with it and make a perfect balance. I tried out different fonts, thicknesses and designs but in the end I think I’ll go with the font in the middle. It’s quite thin but not really flat as the last one. I think it will go quite well and be easily seen with whatever picture/artists I chose. Depending on the picture on the front cover I can also chose to change the colour of the font, but for now I’ll go with the classic and simple black.

Genre of music • I’ve chosen to make a pop music magazine, as that was the most

popular choice in my survey. I also chose this genre because, I really like it myself and as a teen I can realte and make a music magazine influenced by my knowledge on pop music. My magazine will feature top chart artists and upcoming ones.

Cover prize and Frequenzy of publication

• I would like to publish my magazine at least once a month. As most things have become electronical, I think it would be a waste to publish every week, or every second week, because then people won’t by every magazine. If I only have it once a month, it’s easier to kind of commit to buying the magazine frequently. That’s also a reason why I’m doing a magazine aimed at teenage girls. Teenage girls have a tendency to easily commit or rather become obsessed with bands and artist, which is I why I think a magazine aimed at teenage girls will be highly profitable.

• When it comes to the prize, I don’t want it to be too expensive. It’s aimed at teenagers, and most teenagers don’t have that much money. I want it to be affordable even for teenager that doesn’t have that much money. So I think around 2.50 or 3 Pounds would be a good price (I don’t know about England, but at least in Norway that would be really cheap)

Reader Profile

• The average reader of M-Code is female and aged between 14 and 18 years old. She loves keeping up with the newest trends and artists and easily gets obsessed with them. She especially loves hanging with her friends talking about the latest gossip and singing on top of her lungs to the newest fifth harmony song. She is quite the hard worker and knows what she wants. In her spear time she enjoys shopping (topshop, h&m, Urban outfitters) hanging with her friends, dancing and exploring new places.

Magazine style • I want my magazine to have a clean and overall nice look. I don’t

want to have too much colours as it might come off as too childish. I want to use sort of mellow and pastel colours to give it sort of a nice and cute looking style. I want my magazine to be a source of information about artists, the music they make and about their life. Artists are a big part of teenagers life – they are a source of happiness, and sometimes they even help to make teenagers forget about their everyday problems. As a teen myself I know how much music and artist influences our lives. Even though it might seem silly to like an artist that much, it really is important to a lot of people. And therefor I want to make a magazine with a lot of artist, so that teenagers can read it and forget about stuff for a little while. Like a break.

Samples• I really want to have a layout

similar to this. The fonts should have a mix between girly and neutral colours. The Pictures should be from the waist or shoulders and up as you get a closer look at the artist at it kind of feel like you get closer to the artist too. I want the pictures to either have a black, grey or white background. If the background colour is too bright it becomes too much colours on the cover and it might end up looking kind of childish? I want it to be clean and mature, but you’ll still be able to tell it’s a magazine made for teens
