Welcome

@PointEastleigh

It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to my first season as Artistic Director of The Point. Your theatre will continue to be home to some of the most exciting artists from our region as well as bringing the very best British and international companies to perform in Eastleigh.

Our season kick starts with two world premieres from renowned dance companies: Russell Maliphant’s Still Current and Probe’s Running On Empty; and dance isn’t just for grown-ups – for our smaller audience members and their families, we present the wonderful Boing! by Travelling Light.

As ever our Associate Artists will be presenting home-grown work including Milk Presents’ A Real Man’s Guide to Sainthood, plus Two Destination Language will be staging FLINT, an evening of short performances by some of the most exciting new talent coming out of the South West.

Joining our Associate Artists programme we have seven new companies – you can find out more about them on the opposite page. Keep an eye out for their new work over the coming year.

This Christmas we hand the building over to our youngest artists as The Point Youth Theatre present two productions: a beautiful new version of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Match Girl and Carl Grose’s delightful comedy Stay Brave Brian Gravy. I am sure that you are going to enjoy this season of bold and innovative work and I look forward to welcoming you to The Point.

Our New Associate ArtistsEvery year The Point supports a range of artists at different stages of their career through our Associate Artists scheme. By providing rehearsal space, business development, office space, artistic mentorship and commissioning support, we enable these artists to shape the future of the arts in our region.

This year, our performance artists are joined by two Digital Associates. These exciting companies will provide new ways for audiences to get involved with our work, through live-streamed performances, online content and digital gaming.

Double-Bill

Dodging obstacles and provocations, ducking and diving, dancing on shadows, rising to an unknown task, driven to the final whistle…

Performed and choreographed by Opoku-Addaie, directed and scored by Graeme Miller, overlooked and cohabited by a mass of wood carved hands, this solo piece sets the performer against the clock and the empty space.

With an inquisitive team of collaborators including designers and sculptors, Show of Hands veers a path through the equivocations of politics, race and history in this witty and personal work.

Co-commissioned by Dance Umbrella.
