THE POWER OF PRAYER
James incisively describes the ongoing issue for many children of God
when he said: “Yet you do not have because you do not ask” (4:2b). How
many blessings do we miss simply because we failed to ask for them?
In his little booklet, Master Secrets of Prayer, Cameron V. Thompson has
an excellent illustration:
“Trams and trolleys and some buses have long poles which reach up
and bring electricity and power to the motors from overhead wires. The pole
may be within an inch of the wire, yet no power can pass ... the bus or trolley
stays in the same place. The people inside can sing and shout and preach and
hold a great meeting, but when they get out they are still at the same place.”
In my view, prayer is the great untapped power source in the lives of
many Christians. We can only progress and grow spiritually when we make it a
point to be praying people!
“Ere you left your room this morning ... did you think to pray?”
