BIO - NBIO - NEffective nitrogen supplement for rice and corn

Effective nitrogen supplement for rice and corn

BIO -N is a microbial -based-fertilizer mainly composed of microorganisms (bacteria) isolated from roots of talahib (Saccharum spontaneum ). These bacteria can convert atmospheric nitrogen (N2) into a form usable by rice and corn plants and can enhance shoot growth and root development.

Benefits derived from using Bio N

Benefits derived from using Bio N

• Replaces 30 – 50% of the total nitrogen requirement of rice and corn

• Increases yield of rice and corn

• Makes plants healthy and green even in drought and in the presence of pests

• Reduces incidence of rice tungro and corn ear-worm attack

Nitro Plus is a seed inoculant for legumes composed of bacteria called rhizobia and carriers like soil and charcoal. The rhizobia, together with the legumes, can fix nitrogen from the air making it available for the plants. Nitro Plus can take the place of chemical fertilizer at reduced cost.

Results of field trials showed an increase in yield of 100% for soybean, 29% for mungbean and 39% for peanut.

BioCon®BioCon® Microbial Inoculant Fertilizer

contains Trichoderma that lowers disease incidence by parasitizing the pathogens. The inoculant can be used for seed coating or for soil inoculation. The inoculant consists of three different species of Trichoderma isolated from Philippine forests and is mass-produced using pure organic carrier. The inoculant is seed coated to palay, corn, vegetables and other crops before planting. For instance, rice seeds inoculated with Biocon only need 70% chemical fertilizer but would give an additional 25% yield.

Improved MacapunoImproved Macapuno

'Makapuno', an open-pollinated glutinous corn yields an average of 6.26 tons of fresh ears in only 70 days. It flowers in 44 days and grows up to 216 cm. It has a pronounced cone-shaped ear with grain filling up to the tip. It is less sticky when boiled and is therefore less messy. 'Makapuno'is a good cash crop because it can be harvested early and the price is higher than field corn.

IPB Corn 919IPB Corn 919

IPB 919 is a three-way cross yellow corn hybrid which yields an average of 6.35 tons/ha. It can be harvested 104 days after planting and can be grown in all regions in the country throughout the year. It is resistant to downy mildew and is tolerant to corn borer.

'Assunta' Off-Season Hybrid

Tomato

'Assunta' Off-Season Hybrid

Tomato

‘Assunta’ is a semi-determinate F1 hybrid, table-type tomato variety. It is very vigorous and highly prolific. It flowers 29-32 days from planting. Fruits can be harvested 59-62 days after they are transplanted. ‘Assunta’has small to medium-sized (30-60 g) plum fruits. The fruits are firm and red-orange when ripe. It has a high-level of resistance to bacterial wilt and tolerance to foliage diseases. It is heat-tolerant and performs well during off-season months. ‘Assunta’ can be grown in low elevation as well as mid-elevation which is comparable or even better than the commercial F1 hybrid variety and the traditional farmers' varieties.

'Sinta' is the first Philippine hybrid papaya, a product of a papaya backcross breeding program which started in 1981. It is moderately tolerant to the deadly PRSV. The flesh is very sweet, firm, yellow range in color, very thick, has a very pleasant flavor and aroma, and has a high edible portion. The tree is semi-dwarf and a prolific bearer. 'Sinta' is a registered variety with the National Seed Industry Council.
