Children’s Wednesday night Choir practice: Melody Makers (2nd - 5th grade) meets from 5:15-6:00p.m. Cherub Choir (age 3 – 1st grade) meets from 6:00 -6:30 p.m. Both Choirs meet in the children’s music room on the 2nd floor.
PAIRS AND SPARESThe Pairs and Spares will celebrate Thanksgiving at the Smoky Mountain Restaurant at Turkey Creek. The date is November 15, leaving the parking lot at noon. Be aware this is the third Thursday of November. Happy early Thanksgiving. Lets go to Turkey Creek. Will turkey be on the menu?

Hunger Hike Thank you – The annual Hunger Hike for the Fountain City Ministry Center was a great success. Seven of our ten churches raised $2,700. Our church raised $850 which was the most by any church. Thanks to all our generous members who supported Bill Keeler and Laura Tappan.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD NEEDS YOU!
Many of us often wonder – how can I personally make a difference in someone’s life? Wonder no more! Operation Christmas Child needs you!
Since 1993, this project of the international Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse has delivered a message of God’s love to more than 94 million children through simple gift-filled shoeboxes. It is so easy to participate and such a wonderful way to start the holiday season while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas – Jesus Christ!
Plastic shoeboxes (each with “how-to-pack-a-box” guide, labels and a copy of a letter format you may wish to include) have been donated and are available right outside the sanctuary in the educational building. Remember that the boxes must be inspected along the way, so please do not wrap them shut. However, feel free to add colorful tissue paper or wrapping paper to line the inside of the box!
If you are interested in participating in this project, please look for literature in your Sunday School class, throughout the church building, and on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary in the educational building. Your simple gift can truly transform a child’s life!
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
HOW TO PACK A SHOEBOX
1. SHOE BOXUse an empty shoe box (standard size, please) or a small plastic container. You can wrap the box (lid separately), but wrapping is not required. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift.
2. BOY OR GIRL?Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Using the label found in the guide, mark the correct age category, and tape the label to the top of your box.
3. FILL WITH GIFTSFill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. Use the gift ideas provided on the bottom of this page.
4. INCLUDE YOUR
DONATION
Please donate $7 or more for each shoebox you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can give online by using our “Follow Your Box Donation” option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or your family are preparing more than one shoe box, please make one combined donation.
5. DROP OFF Place a rubber band around each closed shoebox and bring to the sanctuary on or before November 18.If the shoeboxes are not turned in by Sunday, November 18 they will not get picked up and sent to OCC.
