I have some requests to make of you this summer... 1) Have guilt-free fun with your family. Even though you may miss church at FBC Gatesville, you can worship God on the road and in your vacation spot. You are making memories with your children and grandchildren that will bless them for a lifetime. Adventure together! 2) Attend church faithfully when you are in town. Invite your guests to join you when they show up at your house. Make attendance at the house of worship a priority, and let your children and grandchildren know that it is. 3) Give consistently. If all of us are giving in proportion to our income on a regular basis, the house of worship will have all needs met. You may want to set up a regular bank draft for your tithes and offerings. Janet and I did this for many years. Even when you are traveling, you will be supporting your church and its ministries. 4) Pray for five key mission events: a. North Fort Hood Salute to citizen soldiers 5-8 pm Sunday, June 23. This amazing outreach to a thousand soldiers is our opportunity to share Gods love, pray for them as they are deployed, and express our solidarity with them in their military service. b. Vacation Bible School July 14-18. Many children (and workers, sometimes) come to know Christ at VBS. We all have a part when we pray. Pray for plenty of teachers and workers. Pray for safety for our children. Pray for Leigh Carroll, our childrens minister. c. Childrens camp June 17-21. This is such an exciting and wonderful week. You should talk to Leigh about being a sponsor! Pray for our sponsors and children as they go to Camp Lebanon for a week of worship, Bible study, and experiencing God! d. Youth camp July 21-26. Pray for our youth minister, Branton Tennison, as he leads in this week of spiritual discussion and transformation. Pray for our amazing young people as they commit a week of their summer to fun, worship, and listening for Gods voice. e. Sunday School training Saturday, August 24, at our church 9 am-noon. We will have excellent leadership as we focus on Sunday School for preschoolers, children, youth, young adults, and other adults. Everyone at FBC Gatesville is invited to attend and to pray that God will use this training time to strengthen our discipleship for all ages. 5) Mark on your calendar our FBC Family celebration Wednesday evening, August 28. This will be our kickoff for the new discipleship effort on Wednesday nights for all ages. We want it to be a fun event for our youth and children as we tell them about our ministries and we all sign up for the fall programming. 6) PICTURE JOY is our theme for Summer 2019. I will be walking through the Book of Philippians from start to finish in 14 messages. We need your joyful pictures, poems, and memorabilia for our GALLERY OF JOY in the church foyer. We will print your pictures and documents if you will email them to us. Heres my JOY PICTURE: Pastor David Christ-Centered Bible-Based Mission-Driven NON-PROFIT ORG. I am looking forward to the amazing things that God will do in our time here at FBCG. My hopes are to help equip our youth in their walk with Christ. Before I jump right in, let me tell you a little about myself. My wife, KayLeigh and I were raised here in Gatesville and plan to build our lives here. We live with KayLeighs grandparents and maintain their home while they are serving at the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center. I previously worked for the Gatesville Independent School District at the Intermediate School as a paraprofessional. KayLeigh is currently going to Temple College working towards a bachelors degree in mathe- matics with a 7-12 teaching certification. I have been working with youth at church and also, helped organize a community-wide night worship event. Presently, I am working on a Certificate of Ministry from Truett Seminary. When not working we enjoy petting our cats, playing the gui- tar, reading books, and watching movies. June is going to be a busy month for a lot of us. I am planning to take the time to get to know the youth. There will be a pizza and pool party for youth on June 9 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for middle and high school students at Chris and Leigh Carrolls house. This will be a fun way to kick off the summer! Later in June, I am planning some fun outdoor activities for the youth. I hope to spend some more time with the mid- dle and high school students before camp and will be taking the youth to Camp Eagle on July 21 – 26. I will be available during the week, so feel free to call or email me. Blessings, Branton Tennison, FBCG Youth Minister

Children

Sweet Summer time! It’s finally here…so what next? First Baptist Gatesville

has not shut down for summer! Instead we have lots of opportunities to serve the

community and our children. Here is the 411 on summer happenings.

Shivaree is a city wide event on June 1. The local churches were asked by the

Chamber of Commerce to be involved. We are excited to participate in this

event and show our love to the community and to share what goes on at FBCG!

June 17-21 we are taking 13 kids to Mt Camp Lebanon outside of Dallas. Our

children are so excited about attending. And through your generous donations as

a church we are able to scholarship some of these children who would not have

the opportunity to go without this help… thank you! Please be in prayer for the

children whom do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Pray their hearts

will be open to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Also, be in prayer

for Ginger Cooper, Tasha Baker, and myself as we enjoy a fun filled week at

children’s camp.

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT…Vacation Bible School is July 14-18, form 5:30-8pm.

As Pastor David will have started his series on JOY…be in prayer to volunteer

and serve our Lord in this ministry. Because it truly is JOY to watch the kids

learn about God! Do not be surprised if I ask you to be a part of this event!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to serve.
