OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD By: Joanne Haseley, Project Leader

St. Paul’s new outreach project, Operation Christmas Child (OCC), was introduced at the Ministry Fair and then at the Con-nections Table. School supplies + hygiene items + toys + other items + a shoebox + love + prayer = joy and comfort to hurting boys and girls who have endured poverty, famine, disease and war. Every shoebox is a tangible expression of God’s amazing love. SP members used either a plastic shoebox or an OCC shoebox and had fun shopping and filling their boxes. Other members made cash contributions totaling $141 which provided the sug-gested a $7 shipping cost for one box. A special thanks to Thrivent Financial who provided seed money for our project, to Spy Kids who made 10 boxes, to SP Youth who helped in so many ways and to Jean & Frank For-sythe and Christina & Steve Sidebottom who helped take the boxes to the local collection site. SPLC made a total of 157 shoeboxes and we will be doing this project again in 2017. Savvy shoppers might want to check clear-ance and sales to purchase items for your boxes next year. If you learn the country your shoebox was delivered to or hear a response from a note you enclosed in your shoebox, please let me know so it can be shared with the congregation. Operation Christmas Child is so much more than delighting a child in need with a simple gift. In the hand of local churches in over 100 countries, every gift filled shoebox is a powerful tool for evangelism and discipleship. Thank you to all who participat-ed in Operation Christmas Child!

Over $400 was contributed to God’s Global Barnyard, . The pro-gram, coordinated by the Seniors group, will provide two shares of a cow, goats, pigs, bees, chickens and a rooster to developing countries A big thanks to those who participated in the ELCA effort.

ANOTHER ST.PAUL MINISTRY

Did you know that once a month, volunteers from St. Paul distribute food to the needy at a mobile site at Westerville Estates. The food is provided by LSS Food Pan-try in Delaware. The volunteers at the outdoor site unload the equipment and food, and prepare for distribution eve-ry second Wednesday. Presently, The St. Paul volunteers number eight with another six who are substitutes.
