Son un capítulo complementario a la CIAP-2, hacen parte del proyecto 3CGP (Core Content Classification in Primary Care / Clasificación del contenido esencial de la atención primaria), destinado a recuperar los principales conceptos organizacionales de la Medicina Familiar. El proyecto 3CGP combina la CIAP-2 con los Códigos Q para crear una nueva ontología con el propósito de mejorar la indexación de la literatura gris en medicina general y de familia.
