Despite some ongoing challenges (Can you say Coronavirus?), the summer and fall have been delightful - the weather has been wonderful, and the work continues to be completed and in a safe, productive, and professional manner. Speaking of safety, have I mentioned lately that our safety department does a great job in making sure that everyone goes home safe at the end of the day? Billy Snead, Sajid Ordagic, and David Webb perform regular site inspections and provide feedback to the crews in an ongoing effort to maintain our high safety standards. Their efforts are much appreciated! Our former Chief Financial Officer, Wayne Nyberg (who continues to consult with me and my family), and I have been traveling recently, visiting sites throughout Iowa and Nebraska. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting with our team members and discussing their plants, bridges, wind towers, and other projects. During these visits, I have been reacquainting myself with the specifics of the jobs that our team members perform on a daily basis. I am reminded that we are constantly tasked with delivering the products our customers need and doing so within strict budgetary constraints. Customers hire us to deliver a variety of products; such as concrete, asphalt, rock, stone, sand, overweight loads, and over-dimension loads. The teams involved with these deliveries are required to take multiple steps in order to ensure that this happens on a timely, profitable, and safe basis. And when you add in the challenges of the precautions we must take with Covid, as my wife likes to say, it’s like dancing backwards in high heels! Also, this past summer, I had the opportunity to visit several Jensen Construction projects. Jensen has done an exemplary job juggling numerous bridge projects in Iowa and has been working hard to finish up a successful season. I am happy to announce that Jensen was recently awarded a job in Pierre, South Dakota. This project was bid at 42 million and will take approximately two years to complete. Congratulations! It goes without saying that I am so proud of all the team members of The Rasmussen Group. Even so, I can’t say it enough! Corporate Newsletter | The Rasmussen Group2

This will be the final newsletter of 2020. As challenging as this year has been, we have been just as busy and successful as in any previous year. This is one example of the continued dedication and determination of all The Rasmussen Group family of companies! With the launch of a new company Mission, Vision, and Values this year, it is not surprising to see our culture grow stronger and show further improvement. Our companies adapt to the many details involved in a given project,

and that is what we have also done in the year 2020. We have adapted to the constant changes this year has brought us. And I must note – all without taking a dime from the Government as we were not eligible for the Paycheck Protection Plan (PPP).

• Jensen Construction has had a great year, not only building but bidding work this year.

• Hallett Materials, Texas is adding a third wash plant location near Hempstead, Texas, northwest of Houston.

• Argee has had to work extremely hard to find loads this year but has met the challenge and will no doubt continue to find

the work needed to keep its trucks rolling.

• JMT/IST has had a great year, even though they have not had a big job such as a wind farm or Amazon on the books.

• Grimes Asphalt put together a successful bid on a 40,000-ton project in Madison County using a competitor’s portable asphalt plant.

• CIRM and CSI Omaha will break sales records once again this year.

• JCS has kept all three crane packages busy this year and continues to find new ways to be more efficient in this competitive field.

These are just some highlights of what each company has accomplished in the first six months of this fiscal year.

One area that we all need to keep our focus on is safety. We have slipped a little this year, which is uncharacteristic of our group. Please keep safety as your top priority in everything you do. Your hard work is worth it; and let’s finish this year strong!

Stay safe and healthy!

Looking Forward to: Highlighting the Rasmussen Group Core Values and Treating Everyone Like Family. Our people are our family and our future; we value their safety and well-being. Like any family, we do our best when we work together.

In many ways, 2020 has been a record-setting year, especially when it comes to working safely. Many of our companies have continued to maintain a consistent safety process throughout the year. And our vehicle incident rate is down in the IOWA ready-mix division. Four of our companies did not experience a single incident in 2020, and everyone went home safely to their families. Furthermore, many employees were engaged in our safety processes who never had been before. We want to thank everyone for their hard work in improving our safety culture and continuing our journey towards reducing unacceptable risk in our companies.

No doubt about it, 2020 has been a tough year for everyone, and COVID-19 made things even tougher. The hardest part for me was not being able to talk to and interact with everyone as we have in the past. I think we all want this year to be behind us. I sure do. That is why I titled this article LOOKING FORWARD.

During our incident review process, we sometimes ask the question, “What were you thinking?” when an employee experiences an incident. This question usually comes after something goes

MISSION, VISION AND VALUES

MISSIONTo use our heavy construction experience to fulfill the

unique needs of customers and communities while valuing our employees and our strong family legacy.

VISIONBuilding tomorrow through today’s hard work.

VALUESDo the Right Thing

No matter what, we always do what’s right for our employees, customers, environment and community.

Go the Extra Mile

We bring quality and excellence to every job. And when we need a new solution, we do everything to find the right way forward.

Treat Everyone Like Family

Our people are our family and our future. We value their safety and well-being. Like any family, we do our best work when we work together.

4 WAYS WE CAN LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER’S SAFETYWhen it comes to safety, people tend to be very confident in their own abilities.

Many workers seem to think, “It can’t happen to me, so why should I pay attention to yet another health and safety training session?” But when faced with helping others be safe, their attention and attitude change. People are more willing to believe that injuries are likelier to happen to others and that their coworkers need help being safe. Fortunately, this concern for others can be leveraged into improving workplace safety for everyone.

1. Signs/stickers or posters reminding people that their actions can have an impact on others could can yield positive results (I know, I have washed my hands more than I ever have this year!). Psychologist Adam Grant conducted a study in which doctors and nurses were reminded by a sign to wash their hands. In one case, the sign reminded them that hygiene would prevent them from catching diseases. In another, the sign noted that hygiene would prevent their patients from catching diseases. Doctors and nurses in the second case used almost 50% more soap or hand sanitizer. This certainly suggests that people are more likely to be responsible when they’re conscious of the fact that their actions affect the well-being of others. Signs can help drive that point home.

2. Encouragement can also have a huge effect on employee behavior when it becomes part of the workplace culture. Positive reinforcement improves performance, so commending people when they’re safe can be an effective motivator and can even lead to the creation of positive role models in the workplace. In addition, encouraging workers to watch out for each other may not only improve overall safety in the workplace but can also strengthen staff morale. Encouragement doesn’t cost anything—it’s a cheap and effective tool in making our teams safer.

3. What-if exercises can help build employee participation in safety meetings and interest in each other’s well-being. For example, during a toolbox talk, a supervisor could ask, “What would you do if you saw your co-worker start using a motorized lift without wearing fall protection?” This gives employees the opportunity to consider what to do in such cases. Should such an event occur, they won’t have to think on the fly and will be more likely to respond appropriately. In addition, this type of exercise drives home the importance of looking out for each other’s safety. As a result, employees are encouraged to naturally look out for hazardous situations that put a coworker at risk of injury, creating a more effective safety culture.

4. Helping others work safely - keeping an eye out for other people’s safety puts safety and risk in the observer’s mind. When they see someone else doing something risky or dangerous, they instinctively compare that behavior to their own. For example, when someone notices another person texting while driving, this dangerous behavior might drive home the importance of road safety.

The Rasmussen Group’s safety culture doesn’t automatically evolve out of a collection of policies, because there is much more to safety than just compliance. It takes regular, proactive effort and not just reactions to incidents of non-compliance.

Throughout my years in safety, I have tried to emphasize the important difference between “backward –looking accountability,” which is about finding the person responsible and assigning blame, and “forward -looking Accountability,” which identifies changes that need to be made to avoid a similar situation in the future.

Punishment rarely results in a safer workplace, but building safe habits does. A safety culture that includes a healthy dose of forward-looking accountability helps employees learn from their mistakes and teaches them to bring safety issues to the attention of their superiors without fear of reprisal. And building positive relationshipswith employees means they will be more likely to give and listen to feedback, and more likely to want to be safeand look out for others.

We are constantly thinking about ways to engage and motivate employees to be safer. If we encourage them tolook out for their coworkers, the results—reduced risk levels, fewer injuries—will be something everyone wants to see and will be proud of. This is HARD WORK THAT MATTERS.

Safety wrong. I have asked this question of my children, our co-workers, even myself! When asking it, we should realize we are looking backward, from a reactive perspective. I have really tried to change that over the years, to looking forward instead.

For every moment we spend looking back, we lose our focus on looking forward. Looking ahead involves vision, goalsetting, and innovative thinking: Hard Work. Looking forward also helps you and others work safely, if we ask the right questions.

For example, Personal Risk Assessment (stopping to think about risk) and looking at what could happen can help us work safely. What if we act proactively, and ask the question, “What are you thinking? or, “What could happen? These are great questions to ask yourself each day to evaluate if you’re ready to work, ready to do a task, and ready to do it safely. My vision for The Rasmussen Group Safety Culture is that we care about each other so much that it drives proactive risk assessment, effective decision making, and good safe judgement in our daily work so that we take the necessary steps to keep all our people safe. I want us all to work safely each day and to enjoy life our lives and our families because we worked safely.

A personal example may help with this idea of caring about each other. I can remember waiting up for my kids to come home when they were in high school. (I don’t miss that!) The only thing I could think about was that I just wanted them home safe. Many of you can relate to that. When you’re a part of a family, you look out for each other. I want us all to care about each other that much. I worked with a company once that had a process called “safety is caring.” It was a good process, and it was effective. I don’t doubt that we all care about each other and want to work safely. Many of us demonstrate that every day

The Rasmussen Group is a family of families, and we should help each other live safely. That’s what we mean when we say WE VALUE YOUR SAFETY AND WELL-BEING as a core value. We often hear this, but do we practice it? Would you act differently if you were working with your son, daughter, brother, sister, mother, or father? This is the mindset I personally want us all to work with. It is the mindset that we need to be in every day, every hour, and

every moment, while at work and at home. When we all internalize this core value – TREATING EVERYONE LIKE FAMILY , when we see each other as family members, we will experience a higher level of safety performance than we ever have before. We must think beyond working safely to living safely and hold each other accountable to follow the proven steps we KNOW help keep us safe for our family members. I know you have all heard the phrase “finish strong.” What about starting strong? What can you start right now or next week to affect our safety culture in a positive way? Let’s look forward and start doing something that impacts our safety culture in a positive way. Let’s continue our focus each month to really make a difference in the lives of our employees, our families, and our jobs by helping each other work safely.

Thank You,

Billy Snead Safety Director

We hope you all have had a safe and prosperous summer. Now into fall, we are looking forward to cooler temps, football, and maybe an end to this virus. We have enjoyed a busy spring and summer despite all the craziness throughout the country. I’m happy to say that all our drivers are safe and healthy in spite of visiting multiple states every week during Covid. It seems every place our drivers stop, load, or unload has a different set of rules and procedures to follow. Even so, they have done a good job “going with the flow” during this unprecedented time. As I sit and write this article, it happens to be National Truck Driver Appreciation week. Although the media seems to only recognize drivers during this week, I think every week should be truck driver appreciation week because without them we would all be cold, hungry, and naked. I know I and my family genuinely appreciate the work our drivers do out there on the highways.

Since our last newsletter, we have successfully delivered all the arch sections to the new Frederick Douglass memorial bridge in our nation’s capital. This was a very challenging job for us because as the arch sections were large, we traversed several mountainous states, we saw A LOT of east coast traffic and permitting systems, and we experienced three of the four seasons during the duration of hauling. All of this was done safely, efficiently, and without so much as a scratch on any of the pieces. From figuring out how to haul the loads safely, to the work of permitting them as superloads, to securing them onto our equipment, we hauled them upwards of 1500 miles one way! Our folks knocked this one out of the park, and our customer was very pleased.

During this same time, we also successfully delivered all the structural steel to the Lewis and Clark Viaduct on I-70 over the Kansas River near Kansas City, Kansas. This job consisted of large plate girders that needed to be hauled horizontally due to the web depth of the design. Again, our folks stepped up in figuring out how to load, support, and secure the girders for the trip From Van Buren, Arkansas. Our drivers endured the regular traffic and jobsite obstacles, but also added in were a busy RR crossing, rising floodwaters of the Kansas River, and multiple permitted route changes due to construction. Again, this was all done safely and efficiently by our folks, and our customer was pleased.

We at Circle V Specialized have been doing some updating of equipment for future endeavors.

We have purchased a Faymonville Highway Max 2 that will be delivered in late October. This is a nine-axle with three-axle booster that will configure with a four-axle tractor to a total of 16 axles with a weight capacity to 205,000 pounds. This will fill that void from 165,000 pounds to 205,000 pounds payload at a more feasible cost for our customer base. This is a steerable configuration that will stretch out to 90 feet of supporting deck with hydraulic suspension for negotiating difficult terrain and turn in hard-to-deliver scenarios. We will be sending personnel to New Jersey for training for this configuration when it arrives.

As for other equipment, we have updated our Double Drop Fleet to two low-profile Mini decks with 12 inches of ground carry height. With 35-ton capacity for transporting taller boilers for Victory Energy or other components in the Natural Gas industry to states such as Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia, we can lower the overhead cost of Bucket Truck Escorting and ensure better routing. We have also purchased a Trail King 85-ton trailer that will stretch to 69 feet of deck that will configure from eight axles to 14 axles, with a four-axle tractor.

Due to lower oil prices, our business has been slower than normal, so we are expanding our bidding to the Boiler and Transformer industry. We have just finished a large transport for a Dehydrator at weighing 210,000 pounds with our dual-lane transport trailer from Longview, Texas to Keene, North Dakota. We expect to be awarded two more identical transports in January of 2021.

During this slower time, we have completely disassembled and sand blasted/painted the dual-lane Perimeter frame and replaced many hydraulic and air lines and hydraulic cylinders before the trip to Keene, North Dakota. It is in tip-top shape for the next few years, and all personnel at Circle V participated in this undertaking: Russel Hopkins, Victor Kunkel, Mike Cook, Rod Schmitzer, Rickie Humphrey, and Jaime Aguinaga. We are currently in the process of surveying routing from Collinsville, Oklahoma to the University of Ohio in Columbus for four large economizers/boilers that will travel in the Dual Lane perimeter frame at weights of 525,000gvw and 16 feet tall. These four units are set to ship in November and December if the jobsite in Ohio will accommodate this timing.

BUSY SUMMER FOR JENSEN CRANE

It was a busy summer for Jensen Crane; all of the crane packages were on long-term projects for the summer, which is a different twist for Jensen Crane team members. One crew was in Osage, Iowa, another in Bishop Hill, Illinois, and one in Mesquite Creek, Texas. All of the crews were focused on wind turbine maintenance and moving cranes on site from tower to tower. It was a nice change of pace from moving from one city to another. All of these projects have been completed safely and without incident, and now that fall is upon us, it’s time to bounce from city to city once again.

As I sat down to decide what to write for my fall newsletter article, it hit me—a feeling of gratitude and thankfulness. I usually look to the beginning of March as the kickoff to the construction season. Weather, of course, plays a big part in not only when we start up but also when things wind down. March 2020 was no different from any other year except for a buzz about this thing that came out of China. Up to that point, the focus was on anticipation of the troops coming back to work, getting the equipment ready to hit the road, having enough qualified drivers, and booking enough work to get a good start out of the gate. Unfortunately, the normal things that are the cause of anxiety quickly took a backseat to the emerging pandemic. All of our focus turned to how we would operate in such uncharted territory. That is when it became apparent that it was going to take a lot of effort on the part of many people to make this thing work. I am very thankful that our industry is essential and that we have had the opportunity to continue working.

I would like to thank the leadership of the Rasmussen Group for their timely response. They immediately formed The Crisis Management Committee, the purpose of which was to come up with a plan that met the CDC guidelines and monitor the ever-changing environment. The entire goal was to provide a safe work environment for our team members while still providing the level of service our customers have come to expect. This was not and still is not an easy task. Early on, the CDC was releasing changes to the guidelines on a daily basis. The committee was instrumental in keeping all of us up and running. They are still active, will remain diligent in monitoring

any changes in the guidelines, and will address all Covid-related issues as they arise.

I would like to give a shout out to our customers as well. They have all been very open and flexible with us. For example, they have dropped the requirement to get tickets signed. Something that seems so simple, in fact, is a big deal. It limits the amount of contact with the driver, which keeps both the customer and our driver safer. Without their willingness to work with us, it would be very difficult to do what we do.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to acknowledge the heroes on the front line. From top to bottom, theJMT Team has been nothing short of remarkable. This journey has been anxious, scary, and at times outright overwhelming. Through all of the unknowns and uncertainty, the JMT Team has answered the bell. For that, I am very appreciative, and I have a ton of gratitude for the whole team. The future will continue to be full of unknowns. What I do know is, with the support and leadership of The Rasmussen Group and all its affiliated companies, as long as we work together, we will get through this and anything else that comes our way. Thank you!!

READY-MIX LEADER CONCRETE SUPPLY DEPLOYS INDUSTRY-ACCLAIMED SAFETY PROGRAM SMARTDRIVE 360 TO REDUCE ACCIDENTS

CONCRETE SUPPLY, INC.

Powerful Combination of In-Cab, Road-Facing, and Backing Video Cameras Allows Fleet to Significantly Improve Safety, Reduce Claims, and Exonerate Driver Safety is a top priority and a solid foundation for Concrete Supply, so employing a video camera system with an enhanced coaching workflow was fully in line with our continuous commitment to leverage the best tools to ensure safety. We knew that once our drivers gained better visibility into what was happening on the road and on project sites, coupled with constructive feedback, they’d be armed with the knowledge to enhance their safe driving habits.

With the SmartDrive program, along with our concerted coaching efforts, we immediately began to see marked improvement in adherence to a variety of important safe driving habits, including fastening seatbelts, following speed limits, avoiding distracted driving, and not following too closely, which can often lead to costly rear –end accidents. SmartDrive has been so impactful that we’ve included the SmartDrive Safety Score in our driver bonus evaluation program, incentivizing drivers to maintain a good safety score, which has helped encourage continued driver buy-in and self-evaluation.

When researching a video safety system, we recognized the need for more than a dashcam or safety program that simply captured video. The ability to coach drivers was critical to the company’s decision so that it could continue to reinforce its family-first culture and ensure employees are treated fairly. Concrete Supply considered other video safety companies, however we ultimately selected SmartDrive due to its proven coaching workflow and its experience in – and extensive references from – the ready-mix industry. The

company opted to deploy road, cab-facing, and added back-up cameras to protect and exonerate drivers, to maximize visibility to risk, and to ensure adherence with standard operating procedures.

No other video safety company has the breadth and depth of experience as SmartDrive does. We particularly appreciated SmartDrive 360 and its ability to help our drivers safely back into tight quarters and ensure proper discharge of materials. Since our drivers have gained a higher degree of visibility that allows for more informed and safe maneuvering, we have experienced fewer accidents and less vehicle damage.

We want to thank our safety department, Billy Snead, Sajid Ordagic, Shane Smith, and especially Scott Speridon for helping us with managing this program and with coaching and mentoring our drivers

As we round the corner into the final stretch of 2020, it’s hard to believe this all started out looking like it was going to be one of the toughest years on record. And true enough, it’s been a tough year for CSI Omaha, much like it has been for the entire country as the pandemic has strained everyone. But this group of drivers, batch operators, salespeople, and dispatch were a family of CHAMPIONS long before anyone thought of calling them essential workers. Obstacles were everywhere, but this CSI Omaha/Council Bluffs team found nothing but solutions and showed up every day, non-stop, and it is this CHAMPION attitude that continues to allow us to make budgets year after year…including now.

It’s easy to throw numbers and talk about growth…and don’t get us wrong, we are thankful and blessed for all of our almost seven years of growth, and we look forward to many more years of success. But absolutely NONE of this would ever be possible if it were not for the family of people that mix, batch, and haul mud every single day. To us, you truly are essential, and we thank you for bringing your success to the mix and doing so safely, so that you return at the end of each day to your families.

GRIMES ASPHALT & PAVING CORPORATION

This summer, Grimes Asphalt was all over the metro and beyond. Projects have spanned from Polk City to Osceola to Redfield, with many in between. In addition, several longer-term projects are coming to an end; Fleur Drive, Des Moines Residential, Lower Oak, and River Bend to name a few.

As with most years, many unique challenges and opportunities have arisen. We continue to look for ways to further our growth and outreach. One such result of this strategy was awarded to us in August. Highway G-50 in Madison County, a 10-mile stretch of farm-to-market highway from St Charles to 169, south of Winterset offered us the opportunity to lease a portable plant. The plant was set up in a nearby quarry and produced the asphalt for the project. The Madison county engineer designed a perpetual pavement section that will extend the life of this roadway. After the project was awarded, our subcontractors were on site within a week working on preparations for the new asphalt overlay. Our hardworking employees were able to safely produce, haul, and place 40,000 tons of HMA in just under one month.

Let’s have a safe and successful end of the season.

I-35 SB Bridge over Fourmile Creek in Ankeny moved closer completion. The crew, led by Ryan Lonsdale, completed deck and overhang forming in September and placed the deck concrete. The bridge approach paving will be constructed soon, and the project will be fully complete by mid-October.

1st St Bridge Overlay at Fourmile Creek in Ankeny is FINALLY complete. The crew, led by Jim McFarlin, started construction in August and was able to place the overlay concrete after a year and a half of delays related to utilities.

LAURIDSEN SKATE PARK

In late August we headed back to the Lauridsen Skate Park to construct a concrete footing for a skateable park feature. The footing was 90 feet long and 6 feet wide and holds the letters WOW, written in cursive and made out of 1-inch-thick plate steel. The letters are 12 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The crew, led by Troy Phillips, erected the steel letters and then placed the concrete footing around the letter bases. Great job to the crew for completing the most iconic structure of the new skate park!

HANCOCK, IA

In Hancock, Iowa, crews, led by Kurt Pethan, erected structural steel in August and placed deck concrete in September. The bridge located on G34 over the West Nishnabotna River is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

GRIMES, IA

In August, Jensen started constructing an MSE retaining wall for the new HWY 141 interchange near Grimes, Iowa. Crews, led by Barret Tucker, will construct just under 11,000 SF of retaining wall in under 60 working days. This will be the first MSE wall built by Jensen Construction in over a decade. Great job to those involved in this fast-paced project!

ANKENY 1ST ST

AMES, IA

In September, Jensen kicked off a project in Ames, Iowa where we are a subcontractor to PCI. Our portion of the project includes constructing a pedestrian box culvert and a 400-foot-long concrete beam bridge. The structures are located in the middle of Coldwater Golf Links. The culvert and bridge have detailed form liners and painted concrete finishes.

UPCOMING PROJECTS THAT WILL BE STARTING SOON INCLUDE:

• A 219-foot Concrete Beam Bridge over UPRR near Grinnell, IA

• A 150-foot Slab Bridge over Middle River near Stuart, IA

• A 1,686-foot Steel Girder Replacement in Pierre, SD

CLARKSVILLE, TN

BEAUMONT, TX

DYERSBURG, TN/CARUTHERSVILLE, MO

We’ve made a lot of progress at Clarksville since the last newsletter. By the time this is published, the bridge decks for phase one will be completed, and we will be preparing for demolition of the existing bridge. Landon Streit and the crews there have done a great job of getting us back on schedule after some difficult delays. Brandon Rice, Greg Prowant, Joe Hill, Walt Robbins, and all the guys really stepped up to the task!

Teddy Burley and the guys at Beaumont continue to make steady progress. The first phase of this bridge is one of the more difficult ones we’ve had, but Eric Stoural, Rusty Davis, Tom Huddleston, and Tyrone Sims have hung in there through it all. Late August brought Hurricane Laura, which could have been a disaster for us, but theBeaumont area was spared the worst of it.

This project includes types of work that we have never done before, including placing giant sandbags and concrete “a-jacks” in water up to 60 feet deep. JD Steward, Mark Smith, Mike Phillips, and Mark Owens have done a great job working through all the issues of these new operations. The sandbags are complete now and the “a-jacks” are just starting. So far, things are going very well on this new adventure.

LAKE TEXOMA, OK

It has been a busy summer on Lake Texoma. Since the last newsletter, we have poured 18 drilled shafts, 20 columns, and ten pier caps. Tristan Weaver and the lake crews have also managed to set 11 spans of concrete girders. Tristan has depended on Amos Adcock, Billy Stevens, Max Angeles, Ray Ellison, Trace Siemens, and Taylor Nelson to keep up the fast pace.

2020 has been an eventful and unique year for Hallett Materials, to say the least. The challenges of COVID-19 and near misses of Hurricane Hannah and Laura have shown the resilience and ability to adapt at all of Hallett’s facilities. As fall commences, we continue to see a market that is steadily trending upward and many new projects that will carry us into a stronger 2021.

We are proud to have BJ Hile join the team as Plant Manager for the upcoming Hempstead location on the Brazos River. BJ brings over 30 years of mining experience, including operating facilities on the Brazos. His knowledge and experience are very much welcome in this exciting venture. Argee Transport delivered the plant from Iowa this September, and we look to be operational by fall of 2021. The opportunities for Hallett will be abundant as we will be the only concrete sand supplier with facilities on three rivers within a 60-mile drive of downtown Houston.

At Porter we have finished up mining the Bahr property across the San Jacinto River and are now mining on the same side as the plant. We have been mining the Bahr Property since 2009. We will be sending the diesel dredge “Keejac” to the new Hempstead location and relocating the electric dredge “Sandra Kay” from the Bahr propertyto the new pit.

FREEDOM ROCK, BOONE, IAThe Boone County Freedom Rock is located in Boone, Iowa at the

corner of West 3rd Street and Main Street. The Boone County Freedom Rock project was started in 2014 by Mysty Stumbo to honor her son, Sgt. Daniel Sesker. ON WITH LIFE (OWL)“OWL” is a not-for-profit organization and a Midwest

leader in brain injury rehabilitation. I have supported OWL with in-kind donations ever since a friend of mine, the director at the time, shared its vision and mission with me. It was clear to me that they were poised to fill a gap in the care for and rehab of brain injuries. Little did I know, in those early years, the impact On With Life would have on me personally.

Following a horse accident in 2001, my cousin spent six months rehabilitating at OWL. The transformation he experienced while there was just short of miraculous. My support of OWL continued after seeing the wonderful work they do with their clients.

Then came the dreaded phone call in the spring of 2017. My sister, June, had been struck in the head along the side of the road by the mirror of a pickup. After emergency surgery and two weeks in intensive care in Iowa City, she was transported to OWL. From being in a coma, to not being able to talk or eat real food, she went home after a six-week stay.

Not long after my sister’s experience with OWL, Kurt Rasmussen was able to continue with some follow up rehab there following his stroke in 2019.

This life-changing organization offers a unique continuum of services for people who have sustained a traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or other neurological condition. OWL strives to ensure that each person served has the equipment, services, and environment necessary to maximize their rehabilitation potential. If anyone is ever looking for a rewarding charity to support, feel free to give me a call for more information.

L.C. and others who worked hard to get this unique railing welded and put in place for a welcome addition to our corporate office here in Des Moines. The original, white railing was replaced with a classic rail with artwork in its center. As you can see in the photo, the railing includes a representation of each of The Rasmussen Group’s companies. We’ve envisioned this railing for the past two to three years, and it has finally come to fruition.
