•Operating several branches around the country, 826 National encourages literacy among today’s youth with a variety of tutoring programs, writing workshops, field trips, and other projects. Each year, the group serves more than 31,500 students around the country and impacts nearly 1,000 teachers with the help of about 6,000 volunteers. Surveys indicate that 100 percent of teachers who engaged 826 National during in-school projects said that the opportunity motivated and challenged students. Teachers also unanimously agree that the organization offers important tools and resources for them in the classroom. All teachers who took students on an 826 National field trip likewise agreed that the opportunity was a unique and valuable learning tool.
