Tiblftqfbsf Tdippmt( Gftujwbm On Tuesday a crew of 13 students and two technicians travelled to Roedean Theatre in Brighton as part of this festival. The aim is for young people to explore the plays of Shakespeare and present their own 30 minute performances. Performing alongside three other schools, our production of "King Lear" was well-received by a packed auditorium. The adjudication made very positive comments about the high quality of production, the ensemble performances and the highly competent control of the language in one of Shakespeare's densest and most difficult of plays. The cast and crew were also praised repeatedly throughout the day for their professionalism and disciplined approach to their work. Well done to our students for being fantastic ambassadors of the school and a massive thank you for parents and friends who made the journey to support us. Thank you to all those who attended the Year 11 Steps to Progress evening. This event was a huge successwith over 130 students and many of our post 16 providers attending. It offered key information about choices at post 16. Allpost 16 providers were very complimentary about our students and our school.

On the 16th October we took 25 students to the Countryside Careers day at the National ShowGround in Ardingly. All students in Years 9, 10 and 11 were given the opportunity to attend by putting their name down in tutortime. Students who attended were able to explore all the different career opportunities available in the rural industries as well asparticipate in interactive activities such as harnessed tree climbing and driving a tractor. The day was a great success and onethat we hope to repeat next year.

Thank you to all those parents who attended our Compact Launch and to Brighton University for leading thisevent. Compact offers support for all students from partner schools and colleges. The evening included advice, guidance andimpartial information to help students make a strong application to higher education. This evening was very informative withstudents and parents able to find answers to their key questions. If you were invited but unable to attend this event you will stillbe able to sign up for the programme. Contact Mr Barrow for the application form.

Thank you to all the selected students for making these trips worthwhile and being greatambassadors for the school. A full report with pictures will appear in the next newsletter.

The girls played Bishop Bell on the 15 October. It was a toughgame with some crunching tackles. We took the lead towardsthe end of the first half when Becky Simmons tore through theBB defence and coolly slotted passed the keeper. Cerys Petershad an amazing game in goal, making some crucial saves

throughout the game.

The defence of Bibi, Jessica, Stella and Izzie was strongthroughout. The 2nd goal came half way through the second halfwhen Becky Simmons was put through by Rachel Lumby andconfidently put the ball past the keeper. The final goal camefrom another Lumby pass and Molly Dodd was there to finishthe move off. Cerys was voted Player of the Match. Well done

girls!
